Oh a slap fight! Was not expecting this.
I can see where Smilla is coming from but all that raving did far more damage to her arguments than advanced them. Also seemed a bit preachy-like the stereotype of the super left wing “woke” Twitter police. No one likes to be told that they’re unacceptable, but one should always choose their battles wisely.
Everyone has been told they suck & don’t measure up at least once; it’s part of being alive & talking to other people. It sucks & can really do a number on your self worth, but it’s unavoidable, & I’ve been hit with that as well. I shrugged it off. It took a while, but I did.
I see nothing wrong with stating one’s preferences. No one is going to be everyone’s ideal. Some people like their partners chunky, some thin. Some like them dark chocolate, some like them white as marshmallow fluff. I think the trick is to not make someone feel inferior because they don’t live up to them, but you obviously can’t please everyone. Knowing that I am not the guys’ that post here physical (& probably personality) ideal does not bother me at all, because I know that people like different things. And snarky redheads with junk in the trunk don’t usually make the top of any dude’s “Women I Wish I Was Currently Fucking” list.
Personally, I don’t think either Tim or Bast crossed the line into raging misogyny. Saying what you like isn’t sexist. Demanding that all women fit into your mold is sexist, & I did not get that vibe from either one. I’ve stated in the past that I think Chris Evans is smokin’ hot & I’d love to fuck him senseless-does that make me a misandrist? To me, it simply means that I have functional eyes. But demeaning Mr. CG because he doesn’t look exactly like Captain America would make me exceedingly sexist, both towards him & towards men in general.
Feel free to flame me. I won’t be reading this thread again.
