The triumph of the Left is made clear by how easily people talk about "McCarthyism", without realizing that he was correct

Tell that to his then boss.
Just one more reason why I respect Dwight D. Eisenhower: whose most potent weapon - as he was previously Supreme Commander of the Allies in the War in Europe part of WWII - was to ignore McCarthy.
Thus that… thing died a pickled irrelevance. Good.

Just imagine how annoying it must be to be a spy with paparazzi (which I’m pretty sure already were around back then, considering that they are named after a vintage film from *checks* 1960). I mean, sure, the paparazzi and celebrity press themselves are unlikely to realise what’s actually going on, but it certainly would be a risk of open-source intelligence…
McCarthy’s “list” of spies was a blank piece of paper inside a Manila envelope. Even J. Edgar Hoover was opposed to McCarthy and Congress’ meddling since interfered with actual CI investigations (and cut into his budget, ability to grandstand, and f over civil rights groups)

To this day, I still don’t get how people thought spy’s would be so openly out in public like this. One of the basic tenants of espionage is “don’t have a predictable pattern”, so having people who dedicate themselves to knowing where you are and what you’re doing at any given moment would be such a massive setback.
“The triumph of the Left”
Okay. We’ll take that. Persecuting people for having ideas is wrong, that’s a leftist stance, huh? Okay.
The Left is who thinks bullying people is wrong.
The Left is the side that’s against witch trials.
You’d have to be leftist to oppose jailing people for something that isn’t actually illegal, huh?
Here and when we read The Crucible in my little town in Idaho, all us good conservative kids thought the guy that got pressed was the True American. Huh.

I would like to note that it was HUAC (House Unamerican Activities Committee) that was looking into actors and musicians (who were mostly agitating for better working conditions and pay for set workers and other backstage staff), while the Senate under McCarthy did actually focus on government personnel. Though McCarthy did still focus on higher level officials who, quite frankly, for the reasons stated weren’t the spies that should have been a concern.
Confused?
