Under slavery, blacks were producing members of society. They also had healthy, Christian families. If the problem was that they were abused (there’s no evidence of that), then just bring back slavery but make it illegal to abuse them. That seems like a fair compromise with the libs

second, if slavery was so “good” then why did so many slaves try to flee from such a system in the first place, especially since the South’s slave masters frequently DID NOT treat their slaves well and frequently abuse them physically AND sexually.

I would be less annoyed at Andrew Anglin claiming to believe in Homo Economus if he didn’t obviously believe that the average person was a moron. But since he clearly knows that rage, paranoia and sadism are all real things that drive people’s behavior in “predictably irrational” ways (by which I mean “nonrandom,” so it doesn’t just all cancel out at the end), dipping into the assumption that slaveowners were rational money-maximizers seems unjustified.

You again, Anglin. This is the 21st Century, when all slave “owners” are the ones judicially put in chains, like these two maggots, not their victims. I’m reminded of the words of a certain president unfortunate enough to be assassinated, about something which would absolutely SERVE YOU RIGHT.

Yes, I am sure that people considered nothing but expendable work animals were allotted the time and resources for hygiene and wardrobe to their own satisfaction…
And that’s without going into the soul crushing effects of inescapable exploitation sapping both will and energy to care for oneself (a phenomenon hardly limited to the Colonial black chattel slavery)…

The slaves did not have “healthy” families. When they had babies, the babies had to wait for their parents for upwards of 18 hours for care. Not only were they at risk of dying of hunger or thirst but being left like that (even though the parents still loved their children) can have a profound affect on a child’s sense of self worth. Even though they were just babies, they very likely knew they weren’t being cared for. And I’m not saying that to blame the parents at all, I’m guessing it was awful for them too. I can’t imagine what it might’ve been like to be forced to work those hours and be worried about your babies the entire time.

And frequently the families were split up. Slaves had children and the children were sold to other plantations. This was partly just a way to make money but it was also partly a way to break people’s spirits.

Andrew admires the South and is pro slavery. Someone should remind him Jesus saw fit his side loses wars
