It’s not just communist regimes that nationalize companies. For one example, Fascist Italy did a lot of nationalization, and fascists and commies generally don’t get along.
Maybe there’s legitimate reason to criticize what’s happening, but nationalization, by itself, doesn’t make a government communist.
Yeah no, this was definitely the only good move left to the German government. Russia was initiating an economic coup by changing the ownership structure of Gazprom Germania (which has critical influence on energy infrastructure in Germany) in such a way that they would be able to unilaterally terminate the favorable contracts of Germany, basically taking much of Germany’s energy infrastructure hostage so that we have to pay in ruble or have to pay more than we previously wanted to, all the while giving Russia the excuse that it itself was not at all illegally terminating contracts to do so (Russia has cultivated an image of always being on point with their gas and oil, even in times of crisis, but it obviously wants to force the situation here).
Since this change of ownership is actually NOT legal in Germany in the way it was handled, it fortunately gave our government the out of nationalizing the corporation, something that is always possible when it comes to criminal affairs. Russia will probably try and make Germany look like the bad guy here, but it is still better than the alternative.
This has absolutely NOTHING to do with communism. Try again asshole.
Confused?
