“When it comes to satirical series like ‘The Boys,’”
Is ‘The Boys’ really satirical, though?
The main premise is that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That’s older than In the comics, the greater the power, the greater the sacrifice.
In ‘The Boys,’ the greater power leads to less checks on that power. Giving power to someone without a conscience doesn’t give them a conscience.
This is how they think superbeings would behave with that power, how corporations would use it, and how governments would try to control it.
“some heroes themselves are already corrupt, and the main message of the show serves as a dramatization of current social issues.”
Well, yeah, if fascists had a Superman or a Captain Fascistica, this would be their movement.
“However, the show has faced similar criticisms to the Absolute Batman Annual comic regarding their depictions of nazis and White Supremacists,”
As the bad guys, right? Like i said, not really satire.
“where some are unsettled by the treatment of such hate groups in the fictional universe”
Does anyone who is NOT in such a group feel that the group has gotten the short end of the stick?
“and feel that current hero media is acting as propaganda to insight hate”
Incite. Why can hatemongers never spell?
“against hate groups. See how that sounds?”
Sounds pretty much on target, actually.
Kinda like how all the SCIFI of the 40s fought evil Nazis, the 50s fought evil Communism, the 60s fought evil science, the 70s fought the evil government, the 80s fought evil corporations… And here we are once again, fighting evil Nazis.
