I honestly don't understand most of this. I'm pretty sure the original FSTDT post is bullshit — the Nature article is referring to the “role of Mitochondria in cancer”, while the OP is talking about "Mitochondrial cancer," which really don’t sound like the same thing? I honestly can’t find any reputable sources talking about “Mitochondrial cancer” as a thing at all. They’re all just talking about the Mitochondria within a larger cancerous cell.

But, let’s be honest here, we knew it was bullshit when he said that anyone would intentionally engineer a zombie apocalypse. Very wealthy people, who benefit most from organized society, are the last people who would benefit from that.

Probably not. Liberalism in general is a very “thrive”-mode ideology, with a whole “raise the tides, and lift all the boats” approach to making the world a better place. Nobody has time for that when they’re just barely scraping by, and catastrophic climate change will mostly move people into “survive”-mode, not out of it.

It sounds like you’re actually thinking along the same lines, but you added a bunch of racism and sexism to the narrative that didn’t need to be there. Do you really think people are so uncreative that they’d just bring back patriarchy without considering something else, something that we don’t even have words to describe because we aren’t living in their world? It’s easy to recognize the flaws in the ideology we live under; it’s hard to be certain that there don’t actually exist any alternatives.

The problem with that proof is that you’re assuming that ⅓ = 0.333…, which is kinda assuming the conclusion (that repeating decimals are exact representations of numbers). The OP thinks that 0.333… is merely an approximation of ⅓, while the mathematical mainstream has decided that 0.333… is exactly equal to \lim_{x\to\infty}\sum_{i=1}^{x}\frac{3}{10^x}, which is exactly equal to ⅓ because the whole freaking point of limit notation is to use iterative processes to precisely describe numbers. Total overkill for this case, obviously, but limit notation is also the common base used for high-school projects like defining the integral (you know, the big S) or proving that various iterative algorithms will converge on \pi or \sqrt 2.

In other words, the OP has basically decided that Calculus Isn’t Real.
