I meant emotionally/mentally. I’m aware they think women are by definition masochistic, but do they really want to acknowledge their implicit corollary that men are by definition sadistic? I’d think they do, but their insistence on being bona fide Nice Guys suggests reluctance on their part.

Maybe if we broached to them that eros by itself is a poor foundation for a relationship, we’d get somewhere. It needs to be alloyed with philia for anything viable—and by my understanding, the alloying will make sex more enjoyable for both parties in the process.

Er, what part of his claim said he was completely fine with capitalism? Is one permitted to dislike all of fascism, capitalism, and communism? (With or without being anarchist—and I don’t think he’s anarchist.) Certainly there’s the socialisms that don’t partake of Marx and Engels, at least. I know Bakunin greatly disliked Marx, and he was definitely no friend of capitalism or authoritarianism (which fascism is a particularly distilled form of).

The problem is that fascism and communism—at least communism as informed by Lenin (read: including Trotsky, Stalin, and Mao)—are both authoritarian, the source problem for humanity. Same with capitalism, seeing how it’s just mercantilism Mk. II. You may want to look to anarcho-communists, anarchists in general (just not so-called anarcho-libertarians and anarcho-capitalists), and any economic system that abjures fascism, capitalism, and communism alike. (I’d say look for a third option in general, but the fascists have already seized that phrase...)

I’m guessing the important thing is *which* basal texts were used for a template, in this case the Antioch manuscripts rather than the usual Alexandria manuscripts. That there isn’t really any such thing as a perfect translation from language A to language B, if only because of differing idiom and nuance therein, must not occur to Stewart. Even if he’s probably working backwards—the Antioch manuscripts are inspired because the KJV derived from those is the clearest example of a divine The King in Yellow out there. Just replace “shattered mind” with “wholly hierarchical mind”. (Jury’s still out on the death sentence bit, even if it’s less Hastur not taking chances and more the idea of the very universe detesting the chosen of God.)

Sorry to wake this up after so long, but I think Hyles’s point was that referring specifically to the King James Bible was redundant. That referring to the Bible should auto-indicate that that’s the translation being used, especially since he thinks only the Antioch sources are accurate, as opposed to the far more usual Alexandria sources.

The emphasis on including even clear neologisms like “mercyseat” on pain of being deemed not “properly” translated makes this seem not like just concerns of proper piety, but full theurgy. As though it’s not the Bible unless it can impel an immediate conversion and Sinner’s Prayer when “properly” read, as though it were the divine equivalent of The King in Yellow.
