I think I’m the most honest human being that God ever created.

I mean, for that thought to be correct, Trump must be the only human being God created, as I truly cannot think of anyone who can surpass Trump when it comes to pathological lying.
He legitimately thinks this. In this guy’s mind, not only is he never wrong, he is incapable of admitting he has any deficiency or that someone is any better than him at anything. Any.
So of course he wasn’t going to listen to anyone other than the little voice in his head during the pandemic. Of course he wasn’t going to concede the election.

And the worst thing is that someone so utterly delusional and divorced from reality was president of the USA at some point. And wants to be again.
For the love of all that is sane and rational, how can the system allow something like that to happen!? Shouldn’t it be designed specifically to prevent such things from occuring!?

Calling Trump a liar is a bit like calling the Joker insane. His instinctive, clumsy, pathological, absolutely shameless style of lying in the most outrageous matter transcends normal lies. In a way, he’s a step ahead of everyone, better adapted to the modern age of digital celebrity politics than the rest of Washington D.C.

He doesn’t get it. He saw his Supreme Court nominees, cabinet members, and political Allie’s as his personal mafia goons, and was baffled when they didn’t follow his orders. Brian Kemp, Brett Kavanaugh, Mitch McConnell— he doesn’t see these people as fellow members of the government, he sees them as his employees.
Trump does not understand the cornerstone of U.S. republicanism: he is not a king. He doesn’t have absolute control of the government.
The good news is that even if he never sees the inside of a cell, he may be disqualified from running in 2024 under the terms of the Fourteenth Amendment. That’s if we’re lucky. At this point, I’ll take it.
Trump is not a king, nor is he capable of figuring that out. Trouble is, about 74 million people similarly don’t seem to get it.

It IS designed to stop that. There are so many checks and balances. He needed to get so many people just to sign a petition saying they thought he cuold be trusted with the Red Phone, then convince the nation he should be trusted with the red phone, and then he’s surrounded by people who can say ‘Stop, that’s wrong.’
Thing is, the designers only imagined one fuckhead. Surrounded by actual servants of The People, professionals, and moral actors. Basically, they wanted lots of ways to reing the King in.
They never imagined an entire pack of wolves moving in, appointing other wolves, letting wolves in, being enabled by other packs of wolves, covering for them, confirming them, looking the other way…

The country’s rules can (and do) tell him not to do anything. But when you have an individual who does not feel shame, it really doesn’t matter.
It’s illegal as hell to try and kill the Vice President, for instance. We have a mechanism to get rid of somebody who does that, impeachment. But it doesn’t matter if the President and one of the parties just doesn’t know or care what the rules are.

...sigh. As if having to keep updating the firmware of my high-end Irony Meter wasn't enough, I thought the update for my Yaesu Anti-Lies Meter would be sufficient for the revelation nary six hours ago: despite the previous 'claims' by Bozo the Boozy Parties Hypocrite Clown & Rishi Sunak to the contrary: and especially where & when, the fact they'd been hit with Fixed Penalty Notices by the police conclusively prove that they lied to Parliament, thus broke the Ministerial Code, therefore they have to resign.
Frankly, I don't know who to send the replacement bill to: Bozo or Donald Fart.
...still, said update for my Yaesu Irony Meter ensured it held up. But I don't fancy the chances of your cheap gold plated one, Don.
Because unlike you that referred to Bozo as a 'Terrific Guy' just a few short years ago, Bozo's chances have run out with he - unlike his prorogation of Parliament re. Brexshit - effectively being impeached.

What happened at 1025 EST? (I’m not sure how many time zones over Britain is.)
EDIT: Never mind, I didn’t check you closely enough. I still need to check the chronology more closely, though.

Even then, it took four years for Trump to successfully clean out all the adults in the room. Even after the coup began in earnest, Barr and Pence of all people were there and ultimately were integral to stopping it.
That is because he is as lazy as he is everything else, and ultimately because he wasn’t smart enough to flood the federal bureaucracy, since he didn’t have the slightest conception as to how it worked.
Now, if he runs again, he’ll probably choose Magic the Gathering as VP, and if we let them come anywhere near within striking distance of the Presidency, we will deserve what they do to us.
Probably true, in an utterly warped sense. Impulsive words flow into his brain, and for a minute or two, he believes them utterly; why would he not, as they are words which exist in the brain of a superior person like himself? And then the words fly out of his mouth, leaving him just as utterly; what was he thinking about, again? Eh, must not have been important.
I mean, I’ve seen him bring up talking points invented by FOX news, and then talk himself out of believing in them in the middle of the speech, then jump right back to supporting those same talking points as if he hadn’t just convinced himself they were nonsense. The man ain’t right.

But, but… that means risking a feeemale becoming President!!1
…if this scares Trump voters away and/or discredits him in their eyes, misogyny would have done some good for once.
If you say so, Trump, and here’s an excellent idea for a new campaign song for you.
“I'm born again, with snake’s eyes
Becoming Godsize.”

Mind you, the surviving members of the band may sue you, for which I wouldn’t blame them.

The good news about a Trump 2024 campaign is that it would probably fail. Unlike in 2016, he can’t sling mud from the outside. Unlike in 2020, he doesn’t have any power of his own. And this time around, there will be lawsuits in all fifty states to disqualify him from the ballot, and if even one of those is successful in a swing state, it would split the GOP vote among two candidates and give even a very unpopular President Biden or Harris an edge.
So yeah, he’d probably lose, even if the state GOP plays dirty with the electors. Probably.
I think he is not lying in the sense that he actually does believe this. He thinks it is true, so in the sense of the DnD spell zone of truth, he’d be able to say it.
Reality though, he’s more dishonest than a vegan vampire.
Confused?
