War is a much more natural state for man than peace is. It sounds awful, it sounds sad. “No, no, no. What are you talking about?” Stop saying that. It’s for that very reason that when blokes end up at war, however strange it sounds, they suddenly recognize that this is their destiny. War turns out to be so much more natural for a human being that everybody can find a place for themselves in the ranks and begins to live this war. And however strange and horrifying it sounds, ven to feel comfortable.

“War is a much more natural state for man than peace is.”
Yes, yes, we all saw the opening to 2001: A Space Odyssey.
“War turns out to be so much more natural for a human being that everybody can find a place for themselves in the ranks and begins to live this war.”
Except for the fact that we don’t just recruit people, arm them, and ship them out of the counrty.
A great deal of time and effort has gone into creating the boot camp experience of breaking people down, fitting them into the institution, weeding out those that cannot fit, AND overcoming their natural aversion to killing their fellow man.
Boot camp would be a BREEZE if war was as comfortable as you think it is.
You did well in uniform, good for you.
Others cannot.
"And however strange and horrifying it sounds, ven to feel comfortable.”
Yeah, depends on what part you find comfortable. Some people absolutely NEED structure, and the Army provides that. If you’re comfortable killing, there’s a problem.
This mindset probably explains A LOT of wingnuttery.
One goes to this guy, or the Taliban or whoever and show examples of Progressivism making life easier, safer, cleaner, nicer, etc. “Hey, look at Norway, here!”
Turns out, they prefer seeing a crapsack world full of violence, struggle and lack because they find it more exciting and challenging.
The thing is, they assume they’ll always be the ones on top, doing the dominating and hoarding the good stuff, rather than the struggling “little people”. Ergo, it’s about being a bully because these “Immortan Joe” wannabees are weak.
World too boring? Play sports! Visit a theme park! Do something fun and cool! SHEESH!

Do you not see? Selfless and altruistic as he is, he nobly sacrifices his glory and the heroism of battle, as not to rob others of the opportunity to die for the Fatherland as is sweet and proper!
Go join your ‘comfortable’ comrades on the Russian Front right now.
They’ll soon prove you wrong, Vlad Soylov.
I’m more a Tolkien boy: “War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.”
Else, it reminds me about Von Zimmel’s Fifth Reich in : “I've decided to lay the foundation of a truly 'new' world. Α more unjust world, a more intolerant world, more unfriendly. A world where there'll be war, all the time, always disease. Τhis world, my world, is the Fifth Reich!”
Lastly, I didn’t find whether OP ever did his military service.

(Trump: "No one wants to see that, the wounded.")
Welcome to reality, where war also means death, loss, the wounded, the need to take care of veterans. Also resources waste, disruption of the normal economy for reorientation in weapons and army catering industry, pollution, dangerous land even for the next generation who might hit a mine, drink polluted water, find and play with dangerous materials, or in some cases even suffer the effects of radiation...
"War is hell."
- General William Sherman
