I’m not even reading the rest. There is no dating app or site anywhere outside of Ukraine that appeals to lonely Ukrainian women. Zero. If anything, they appeal to lonely (in this case) UK men with lonely Ukrainian women. And that’s not even guaranteed. Most likely this is in response to the number of such sites that have actually been outright scams.

There are two ways in which humans use vulnerability as part of common mating rituals. As you talk about here, basically, the predators who seek prey. People who want someone as their “partner” who is vulnerable, specifically to them, making them and easy target for control.

The other is the vulnerability we expose to those we trust, to show our trust, and to show where we most need our partner to be there for us.

I guarantee Anglin wants none of the second. He would not ever intentionally expose his weaknesses to anyone else, even though he constantly does it online when he’s trying to prove his strength, and if someone trusted him with their weaknesses he wouldn’t be there to help protect but rather to exploit. I just hope he’s as incapable of exploitation as he is posturing, but I somehow doubt it.

I am touched whenever my wife trusts me enough to reveal her vulnerable side, but i don’t think Anglin means this as bonding within an established pairing.
I took it as something he finds arousing. My wife revealing she’s afraid of heights, spiders, or this weird phobia about a flat horizon is heartening and fulfilling, but not a turn-on. And they’re heartening because we’ve already established ourselves as a mated pair. IF my coworker says he’s afraid of developing Alzheimer’s, i just say, “Yeah, you told me that yesterday.” Whole different dynamic.
