Meh’d, actually. Being familiar with online discourse, I know just what WWP here is ranting about, and I get the anger.
1.) There is a lot of weird hysteria in fandom spaces about fictional character pairings being “pedophilic”/”incestuous”, and the idea that fiction affects reality– which, while true to a degree, gets warped into people treating fanfic/fanart as if it the have the same impact/reach as big media franchises like Supernatural or Game of Thrones. They’re also quite hypocritical at times: sometimes they deliberately show the same media they’re decrying to others in a “See!? This is what the bad thing looks like!” kinda way, sometimes they send death and rape threats or tell people to kill themselves. Some have even told survivors that they deserve their trauma just because they have a “ship” that’s considered pedophilic or incestuous.
2.) I’m of the opinion that if treating pedophiles for their mental problems and giving them healthy coping mechanisms keeps one child from being molested, then that’s a net gain. In addition, this would not only help people who don’t want to offend against living kids, but also people with pedophile OCD– otherwise decent human beings who are terrified of the idea that they may sexually hurt or have sexually hurt a kid. I think this is a way different thing from the sort of pedo apologia people like NAMBLA, the posters on incels.is, and Matt Walsh talk about.
Also, the Religious Right and other related groups (like QAnon) regularly smear their enemies as pedophiles: in their eyes, that is the ultimate enemy against which nothing is off the table. By establishing a baseline of human dignity even for the worst people, we cut them off at the knees.
Of course, your mileage may vary, but I think my take on this is fairly reasonable.
