I work as an emergency dispatcher (police, fire, ambulance), and I’m going to be honest, I think people who run from the cops are scum.

Not if “I had my headphones and I didn’t hear you,” or “there’s a crisis and I’m running in panic.” I get those. But if they’re trying to pull someone over, and they take off at 100 MPH; or if a cop identifies themselves and says they’re wanted and they’re placing them under arrest, and they start running on foot, then they’re scum. And I would shed no tears for any fate that befell them.

But I still oppose shooting fleeing suspects, most of the time, out of pragmatic reasons if not moral ones.

@Swede: I can actually understand not asking for a raise. A lot of US states have rules where you can be fired for pretty much any reason, or no reason at all, as long as it’s not blatantly racist or sexist or similar. He might be afraid that if he asks for a raise, they fire him instead.

I admit I can, slightly, sympathize with him. Not because I’m worried about false accusations or anything like that. But…

Look, I’m sex-obsessed. I admit it. It’s definitely the main thing I think about, whether in my free-time or when I’m in the midst of some activity. I wouldn’t call it an addiction, since it doesn’t impact my relationships or my ability to perform my job, but there you have it.

Whenever I see someone I find attractive (which is many, many people of all genders), I want to be flirtatious with them. Or not even flirt, but just be blunt, go up to them and say, “Hey, you’re hot. Wanna have sex?” And in my dream world, this would be completely socially acceptable, at any time and place, and even if they said no, they wouldn’t be offended that I asked (and of course, I wouldn’t be offended that they said no). After all, I would enjoy it if people did that to me; Hell, I’d enjoy it if I just got randomly groped and fondled by strangers.

But I don’t live in my dream world, so I don’t do that. Because I know that most people aren’t like me and would not enjoy being treated like that, and I don’t want to make them disturbed, angry, or afraid. Because I try to be a good person and a big part of that is not forcing my desires on other people.

So yes, I do wish society was more open to workplace flirting and the like. But I’m not going to blame women for the fact that it’s not.

“Fetishized vs. invisible” is actually a topic that gets brought up quite a bit in the male bisexual community, of which I’m a member. The general consensus is that female bisexuals are generally fetishized while male bisexuals are generally invisible, except in things specifically aimed at us. That’s changing, but slowly and gradually. A lot of bi men say that fetishization isn’t ideal, but it’s better than being invisible.

(Personally, I want to be fetishized for its own sake, not just because it’s preferred to invisibility, but I admit I’m an outlier.)

Y’know, I think society is way too hung up about sex, and I’m all for sex becoming a part of everyday life and activities, but not harassment.

Start a new fighting game league, and make it clear in the rules that sexually explicit taunts and behavior are allowed. Let anyone who’s interested walk into it with eyes open. And leave it as part of THAT league, so anyone who DOESN’T want to take part in that kind of behavior won’t have to deal with it in the other leagues.

Don’t force it on EVERYONE.

I feel the same for country’s sovereignty. There’s plenty of reasons you could give why Country A shouldn’t invade Country B to overthrow their evil oppressive tyrant, both moral and practical ones, but “they’re a sovereign country” is one of the ones that never resonates with me.

I’m going to be honest: my libido is so high, I can’t comprehend why anyone would ever say no to sex, if they didn’t have some sort of illness or severe pain; that’s the only time I ever say no to sex. I actually understand asexuals better; if you just don’t have a sex drive at all, that’s one thing, but if you have one, and you’re feeling fine, why are you saying no? It completely and utterly baffles me, and probably always will.

But just because I don’t understand it, doesn’t mean I try to override it. Any of my partners tell me they’re not in the mood? I’m puzzled and, yes, slightly frustrated, but I will ALWAYS accept that no, not try and get them to change their mind, and not ask again for a while.

it’s 2019, y’all are basically accepted, don’t need to be prancing around the streets but you do. So why not everyone else have their own right too?

You know, as a kid, I was always annoyed whenever contemporary cartoons (i.e., of the late 80s and early to mid 90s) went out of their way to say “wow, girls can do anything boys can!” or “no matter the skin color, deep down we’re all the same!” or something like that.

Not because I disagreed with what they were saying; in fact, it was just the opposite. Even as a child I considered these messages to be so completely obviously true that there was no need to waste our time with them. My thoughts on the matter were along the lines of, “Yes, everyone is equal, it’s modern times, we all know this, now let’s get back to the interesting parts.”

The difference is, I was just a kid when I thought this, before I sadly realized how wrong I was and that a lot of idiots still needed those messages hammered into their skulls.

Bullshit. I live in the Deep South, and I’m astonished at how normalized LGBT stuff has became in just the last few years. Even the residents who would strike you as the biggest rednecks talk about “his husband” or “her wife” without judgment or batting an eye.
