A lot of them post stuff that’s supposed to be “evidence” to support whatever they’re claiming that doesn’t actually say what they think it does. Recently one of the quotes on this site had a link to an article that the fundie claimed “proves that ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine cure covid and cdc covered it up!” or some such thing when all the article actually said was that the researchers running the experiment had to throw out their results because the companies that make ivermectin etc wouldn’t provide their data, and incomplete data isn’t great science. I don’t think they actually read the things that “prove” all this stuff, they just pass it around because they believe the fake headline that whoever wrote it came up with.

As far as I know autism doesn’t increase or decrease in frequency. Perhaps behaviors related to autism do, but that person is still autistic whether they exhibit the behaviors or not. I know that regardless of whether I’m “behaving” like I have sensory processing disorder or not, I still have *sensory processing disorder. My brain still processes things the way it does regardless of if people can tell. What OP said is sort of like saying “his blackness increased in frequency” or “her femaleness decreased in frequency”. Neurodivergence doesn’t work that way.

*I know they are not the same thing, but they are both neurodivergent.

You seem to have a funny way of treating offense also. You shame us for being “offended” when our lives are being threatened (hint: we’re not being offended in this instance, we are responding to you threatening us). Then you claim us existing in public is an offense to you, when we are doing nothing to harm you or even involve you in the situation.

I appreciate the suggestion! I am in therapy and it absolutely is a trauma thing, plus I’m going through a number of things that are really hard right now. As a kid I had to deal with a lot of ableism and abuse disguised as teasing. My dad especially got after me about speaking and writing correctly. If he had seen the homophobe/homophone comment, he would be telling everyone in the family and all of our family friends and all of my friends about my mistake and how “Hey, guess what everyone, Yutolia doesn’t know the difference between homophones and homophobes!” and they’d believe him and they would all gang up on me and I would never hear the end of it. It wouldn’t matter if I had used the words correctly a million times before that. He does with all mistakes. His family is beyond fucked up and they all learned as kids that only stupid people make mistakes and the way to feel good about yourself is to feel superior and make sure everyone else feels inferior. As a kid depending on them for my survival I was a very easy target. It’s a great case study in inter-generational trauma.

I got better about it in high school and actually started to be able to take a joke, but then a bunch of other shit happened and I temporarily lost the ability. I’m really looking forward to being able to take a joke again because it makes life so much easier and more fun.
