Wait… let me attempt to parse this:
1) oil is ‘made’ below the earth.
2) ‘below' is in the ‘down' direction.
3) on a map, in the ‘down' direction, there is the south pole.
4) the flerfers believe that the south pole is not a pole, but a large circular ice wall. Potentially with land behind it.
5) Therefore oil comes from that land behind the flerf icewall?!

In regard of real physics, I think the extra dimensions are usually spatial dimensions. That is, like heigt/width/depth, but, well, more. It is pretty much impossible to even imagine that for a human. I still like to try sometimes, though. Like, try to approximate a 4D space with things like: a row of 3D boxes which I scroll through, or, a stack of papers, where I say: well, each page contains it's own 3D space. Sometimes it helps to go the other way and imagine oneself as a 2D being, and then think how the addition of the third dimension affects you, and then trying to extrapolate that.
Multiple time dimensions get even more mindfuck. So I just spent 1 hour in t1, but not in t2? How would this look to someone who did it the other way round? Can I spend time in a zigzag manner? Can I drive in circles across this temporal plane? Or is this whole 2D structure somehow my existence, and I don't just have one point in time as a “now”, but a whole line of them? WTF would that even mean?!

Of course, to wingnuts, it all just boils down to “more of the dees = more magickal/fancy/special!”.
