I suspect the causality he has in mind is that this contributes to lowering the mean masculinity sharply—men are no longer as “manly”, and so no longer as good at rebuffing raiders and rivals who stayed that “manly”. Don’t ask me what he thinks would happen if humanity as a whole renounced “manliness”. My best guess is that he thinks the wilds would tear up civilization and force us back into nomadic bands, with the somehow “manly”-only will to “conquer” Nature and its surges having itself waned.

Judaism, at least, doesn’t automatically regard God as omnipotent, “just” suprapotent. Even “stronger than all the other Mesopotamian gods put together” has limits and blind spots. Omni-anything is mostly due to Hellenic influence, like Platonic ideals et al. influencing thoughts of how a creator god “must” be. I’m not sure if Platon himself saw divine omnipotence. While genuinely benevolent, his original Demiurgos (not the Gnostic version) could still make mistakes. Maybe we should look at Epikouros instead?
