Also, they make it sound like females choosing mates is an aberration. Hardly. The whole point of leks, whether those of elk, grouse, manakins, etc. is that all the males in the vicinity have a chance to be considered, without risk of being ignored just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Male manakins even cooperate in setting up their leks. (That manakins are South American birds, not African, is not important right now.)
Whatever this “simping” is, you may want to consider whether it might be a crucial ingredient to organic life thriving...
