From what I’ve heard of the book, anything we’d call warm feelings, even for “loyal” Whites, aren’t particularly noticeable. Pride for the White race, but little warmer.
How does one imagine emotionally living on Glory and Power alone for even just five years, anyway? I don’t think I’ve ever had any internal senses of being flatly powerful or weak (competence and ineptitude are different things to me, in large part by being specific to particular actions), so unless I’m caught in internal semantics, I can’t fathom that sort of feeling so well.
That doesn’t mean it looks any less hollow, though.
