The ‘fell down and burst apart’ story, by itself, claims divine judgment on Judas. But if the hanging rope broke and the rotting corpse fell apart, that’s nothing supernatural about the story. And it ignores Judas’ guilt. And suicide. And the rope.

The Bible says that every verse is important and useful for instruction. What, exactly, is the lesson to take from ACTS if it’s only half the story from MATTHEW? After you betray Jesus and die your body may leave a messy corpse…?
