All your “logical” crap on K.C. Undercover? Congratulations, you just proved a Disney show targeted to preteen girls isn’t completely realistic. What a genius you are.
I’ve known plenty of girls who’d push harder than the boys, get hurt and get right back up. So that whole thing about not wanting the burden? That’s bullshit you made up because you’re too chickenshit to carry any real burden. Getting scraped is nothing. Actually busting your ass to accomplish something, anything, is a real burden.
Oh, and a little secret? Boys and girls are both pretty well driven by emotion, and if they don’t learn to regulate them, they become out of control adults. What you talk about here isn’t regulating emotion, it’s subjugating all emotional response to sociopathy. Guess what? It leads to out of control adults!
And you should be telling everyone you have to spend any significant amount of time with what you expect from them. Not just your daughters, but sons, spouse, friends, coworkers, even your boss. Everybody, and they should tell you what they expect. If you’re expecting things that just aren’t going to happen, don’t be surprised when things don’t go as expected, just as those who expect from you things you cannot do should not be surprised when it doesn’t happen for them either. You, reasonably, tell your kids what you expect from them as part of teaching them to be reasonable with their own expectations.
Oh, and a lot more. But, you know, parenting doesn’t come with a manual because even the most experienced parents cannot write one.
