What makes him think Hollywood isn’t hewing to majority ideals? Like as not, Niemeier, the nation isn’t majority conservative, but rather majority liberal. (Too bad that’s still majority rightward…)
Also, what makes him think Western (which should probably be taken to mean “Rome-mimicking”…Despite Rome having been early CE Europe’s MAIN BAD GUY) culture is insuperable? I’m sure we could find some things that Eastern/Indian/Arabic/West African/East African/South African/Mesoamerican/etc. culture does/did better than current Western. Other than imperialism, but that’s not something to exalt.
Anyway, his suggestions…
–Sci-fi pulps: I’m not sure if there’s anything that should be auto-implied by “pulp”, but the author of the webcomic Harbourmaster (http://www.waywardmartian.com/harbourmaster1/001-001.html) characterizes it as such. It’s not exactly on the side of traditional American values.
–Returning rock to its blues roots: Wait until he finds out that blues were black-born to begin with.
–Independent comics: I’m not sure what he classifies as “real heroism”, as opposed to “false heroism”. But while I understand the virtuous men appeal, it really should involve virtuous women performing deeds of real heroism, too.
–Streams about traditional Western culture: Not a bad idea, although Western isn’t particularly precise. Even Germany, Italy, France, and Spain have cultural subsets. Other than mistaking Rome for the Good Guy (thanks ever so much, Petrarch…), what’s supposed to be common to the whole of Europe and North America north of Mexico? So the best you could do is traditional Sicily, traditional Wales, traditional Portugal, etc.
