Yes, it did bring in all that, and perhaps oppression under Cromwell, if you want to go further back to the fall of another monarchy and monarch’s head. That’s all indisputable history: republican England, France, Russia, China and Persia/Iran. All those countries were then under fairly experimental forms of government, which weren’t necessary the best.
However, that doesn’t mean that ending such hereditary privilege, and oppression, is a bad thing. Plato may have seen a difference between absolute monarchs and dictators, but I don’t. The ending of any autocracy leads to anarchy for awhile, like deposing the dictators in Iraq and Libya, more recently. THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT SHOULDN’T BE DONE.
