Carlson mocked Ashton-Cirillo as a “guy with fake breasts”[…]Macgregor said that the “people bathing in blood are in Kiev and Washington, not in Moscow”
Are they possessed by the ghost of Elizabeth Báthory?
Macgregor told Carlson that “We’re going to see this whole thing collapse and implode. It’s coming.” Carlson asked if NATO would collapse as well, to which Macgregor replied “I would think so” because Germany is “well into a recession” and “deindustrialized itself by casting its lot with the anti-Russian crowd”
NATO countries have gone into recession before and the alliance didn’t collapse.
Macgregor also stated that today’s Russian military is nothing like the Soviet Army,
Yeah. The Soviet Army, for all its faults, actually knew how to handle opponents that couldn’t be knocked out in a few days and could dish it out.
which he called “an exercise in barbarism, and savagery, [and] mass rape”
Oh, that’s not what he meant. Well, in fairness, that’s a pretty accurate description of the Soviet Army, but it’s also one of the current Russian military.
“That’s not Russia today,” he claimed. “Russia today is a very different society, [a] very different state.
Yeah, the guy in charge is called the President instead of the General Secretary. Totally different!
He’s been interested in restoring Russia as an Orthodox Christian state with a true national identity and a strong national culture”
Sounds like someone didn’t do his homework. Russia’s population is less than 50% Christian, while more than 80% of Ukrainians are Christians.
“That’s probably another reason why so many people want to destroy Russia,” he continued. “Because it’s the last European state that has not been flooded with foreigners and turned into some sort of polyglot experiment”
And again, we see the ignorance of these alleged Russophiles. Over a hundred minority languages are spoken in Russia.
Now, as for immigration, let me quote Wikipedia:
Russia maintains one of the world's most liberal immigration policies; anyone who works in Russia for five years and develops fluency in the Russian language can become a citizen, provided they have not committed a crime. Almost anyone who is hired by a Russian firm can stay in the country and work indefinitely [4] This reflects a policy change, in response to declining birth rates, on the part of the government of Vladimir Putin from the more restrictive policy enacted after the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union.[5] The large non-Slavic immigrant populations arriving in response to Putin's liberal policy have sometimes encountered xenophobia. To counter this, pursuant to Russian hate-speech laws, the Russian state has shut down various anti-immigrant groups, such as the Movement Against Illegal Immigration.
These people don’t actually support Russia, they support an imaginary version of Russia where their values are an inexorable part of the social fabric. A Russia that only exists inside their heads. It’s a shadow and a thought that they love.
Oh, and as a final note, you can disagree with your country’s immigration policies while still recognizing how dysfunctional Russia is within its borders and how brutal it is outside them.
