Well, Codez I was released stateside in 1987, but we Westerners got screwed out of Codezes II, III, and V. Codez IV was released over here as II, and Codez VI came out as Codez III. So when Codez VII came out in 1997, folks were just baffled as to what happened to the four games in between.

Luckily Squeenix reverted to the proper numbering on all the rereleases. I highly recommend getting the Codez Pixel Remasters, they're really damned good.
