We've reached the point where amoral and violent delinquents, misfits and weirdos are the norms. They have made the world conform to them.
Okay….personally, I LOVE stories with “antiheroes”…OK, maybe that’s just my tastes, but it’s hardly some modern concept, anyway. I’ve read “Henry IV” by Shakespeare, and Henry V, (“Prince Hal” at the time) is definitely one of those, I think. At least in the early parts, he’s kind of an asshole, lol. It’s in “Henry V” he’s basically the war hero who delivered the key motivational speech and all that. (“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; etc”)
