To be honest, this is just the political infighting between the left-leaning factions and right-leaning factions of the party coming to a head, bound to happen when you basically put a number of political factions together that would, in a multiparty democracy at least, be in separate parties entirely, this sort of thing will enviably occur sooner or later, espesially after Trump won and one part of the party started blaming the other half for his win, which only irritated the left-leaning factions entirely… yeah, I don’t like it, but really, this is just going keep on going until either a compromise occurs or the one part of the faction dominates the other entirely.
But honestly, I’m skeptical of the whole ‘unity’ talking point thrown around by more establishment/corporatist parts of the party, I can’t help but think that their definition of ‘unity’ is really ‘shut up and fall in line’ as they don’t seem particularly willing to do the same when a left-leaning politician might win the nomination, as I’ve read and heard a few of them outright refuse to vote for Bernie should he be the nominee…
Of course, my relatives (I live in the south, a DEEPLY conservative part of the country) who are firmly convinced that either A) the democrat party will ‘steal’ the election from Bernie B) no one will vote for a socialist (despite the polls to the contrary) C) He can’t possibly get any policies intermitted (which can of goes against point B but that’s more to deal with a ‘what if’ thing) or D) that somehow electing Bernie will lead to COMMUNISM! *red scare* *RED SCARE* because he’s a SOCIALIST and SOCIALISM always leads to COMMUNISM, despite Bernie being a Social Democrat rather than a full blown socialist (yes, he calls himself a Democratic Socialist but that’s not what he actually is policy-wise)…
God our political is so fucked… It’ll take a good while to try and get it unfucked… at least in some degree…
To our nordic friends, I’ve been getting this from my conservative family members for a while now, but they’ve been saying that the leader of *insert Scandivianian nation here* said that their nations are not ‘Socialist’, and this point, by the way, is often made when supporters of Bernie or Bernie himself says that what they want to try and create in America is the Nordic Social Democracy system, is this true or complete bullshit.
