This was because Disney rewrote the plot of the 3rd movie after the 2nd came out and after filming the 3rd movie started. The changes included Rey’s backstory and story arc and the writers invented some fairly random stuff to patch it in. In a Star Wars film a new force power is the cheap and easy way to patch over any gap in the plot. There are also a lot of changes to the whole plot but it’s really obvious on the central character. It was too abrupt and didn’t really work.

There seems to be a paradox, here: American conservatives deride leftists for not having guns, and yet, they seem to fear them intensely.

This is basic right wing doublethink here. They need enemies that are inferior and weak so they can feel superior but they also need enemies that are strong so it justifies their fear and paranoia. Thus the left is weak and disorganized despite being part of a vast conspiracy that does most of the shooting in the US. Blacks are cowardly and lazy while being ready to riot at the drop of hat. Women can’t be trusted with power because they lack will while at the same time being annoying for not agreeing with men.

The first part of his argument is a reach but likely has a true elements. The second part trying to blame Obama for shutting down bands with rebellious messages is just silly. The period of the Obama presidency was one of the least active in government meddling. You could make a better argument that the lack of free advertising from political figures did more to cut into the sales of some bands.
The third part fails to grasp how generations cycle. As people aged and rock became popular adult music rebellious kids had to turn to something else. A lot turned to rap and that is what cut into the formation of new rock stars. Altogether just a silly argument designed to feed into the outrage of middle aged and older people.

Makes me wonder if they actually saw the movie. The Joker’s life is miserable and terrible in ways that make him hard to sympathize with. That is a really long cartoon to say nothing. I think he is trying to say that the UK rejected peace with Germany and beat up their own protestors who wanted peace.
Which is silly, this would have been after Germany began bombing the UK and at that point any chance of peace was long gone. The UK was open to negotiations with Germany before the invasion of Poland. After that there was no simple declare war over and go home peace to be had.

The British forces at Dunkirk were not spared. The Germans didn’t think there was any way to evacuate more then a small bit so they acted to preserve their infantry and tanks. They pulled the ground forces back and used the unchallenged air forces to bomb and strafe.

Soft power isn’t as powerful as hoped in the 80’s but the age of Empires showed that hard power isn’t a solution either. The US state department, CIA and other high level officials need to realize that installing a bad pro-US government is not good long term strategy, that has burned the US more times that can be easily listed.
Software will be an important factor in the future but that is a better reason to open it up, not to lock the government into a single contractor with mysterious black box software.
5:He is right there. The US needs to be ready for AI warfare. Getting locked into a single expensive contractor isn’t a good solution and selling his company is what he is really doing here.
6:He is possibly right here but it’s highly debatable. Trump shows that without careful guards the rich can get around universal service. The war in Ukraine has shown that a well run modern army doesn’t need a lot of basic infantry, assaults are best done but small highly trained units. It does need a lot of people for the supply chain though and a draft to fill in the supply chain may make some sense in some situation.

You have to be able to demonstrate why a particular cultural trait/practice is bad, complaining just because it’s different is xenophobia. The key part here is in the second panel when it says “Their assets seized”. Somehow those assets never made it into the hands of the people in the countries Germany was “helping”. It ended in financing more German invasions.

I can understand this argument against Hillary. At that point it was two historically unpopular candidates with various scandals, picking Trump as possibly the lesser of two evils was a mistake but not entirely unreasonable. 8 years later Harris was a successful attorney general and Senator with no standing problems. Trump was a known criminal who had shown he was incompetent at running the government, had a sex scandal that had just been growing for 8 years, had a huge election scandal involving Russia that had been killed by his own AG and was dogged by additional legal issues. At that point even if you didn’t like Harris’s politics voting for her because it was better for the country was obvious.
