It really irks me to know that a lot of tax dollars are wasted in places like government universities on efforts to explain “the origins of life” and the nature of the universe. It is not just evolution we need to take out of schools. We need to address the whole scientific culture that says that we must “seek answers” to questions that we already KNOW the answer to. The only possible motive for that is the promotion of a deeply atheistic agenda.
Evolution has been scientifically disproven repeatedly over a very long period of time to such an extent that any real science theory (i.e. any theory which was actually defended for reasons related to science rather than to careers and lifestyles) would have long since been discarded.
I've mentioned the decades-long fruit fly experiments conducted in the early decades of the 1900s and the explanation for the failure of those experiments offered by the discovery of DNA. That by itself should have ended evolution as a viable theory.
Another overwhelming disproof has been the continued total failure to find intermediate fossils; Darwinism demanded that the VAST BULK OF ALL fossils be clear and unambiguous intermediates. The total lack of any such finally forced Steven Gould, Niles Eldridge and others to concoct the hare-brained "punctuated equilibria" (punk-eek) theory to replace Darwinian gradualism. Punk-eek has so many problems itself that evolutionites generally now try to present aspects of both theories as if they were compatible, which they were not.
For that matter, the other thing which Punk-eek was intended to resolve was the Haldane Dilemma, which describes the gigantic time spans which would be needed to spread any genetic change through any large herd of animals which was already spread out geographically. People who have followed the Haldane problem to its logical conclusions speak in terms of quadrillions of years for anything resembling evolution to produce our present biosphere even if that were possible, which it isn't.
Nonetheless, far from having quadrillions of years to work with, we are now gradually learning that the dinosaurs which we've been told all our lives died out 70 million years ago, were here much more recently than that and that the 70 million years are basically a fairytale. This information includes blood, meat, and other soft tissue found in dinosaur remains over the last few years.

An test prohibiting atheists in public office is no more discriminatory than the clauses restricting the Presidency to natural born citizens, restricting other offices only to citizens of the country, or clauses establishing ages well above that of legal majority to attain to high office. The people have determined that they wish to be served in public office by citizens with enough age to have matured to some wisdom. A related qualification stating that such public servants must believe in God differs little in substance, since in essence it is a qualification requiring people to have a rational view of the reality of creation and divine governance of the affairs of mankind, and a future state of rewards and punishments for all men. In this sense, it is like requiring a oath upon taking office or providing testimony in Court. An atheist is obviously incapable of taking such an oath since they cannot make such a promise to a deity they do not believe in.
Furthermore, serving in public office is not a right, but a privilege. As a privilege, it is very rationally subjected to reasonable qualifcations.

The real cure for cancer is to remove the original cause, which in the preponderance of cases is a spiritual issue. (bitternewss, hatred, unforgiveness, blaming God, or any other form of 'toxic' thought) Some illness is due to use of chemicals without regard for the effect on the body, and some cancers fall into this category, but the main rule still applies: remove the cause.
What you call "mailstream Christianity" bears little resemblance to what is described in God's word. At face value, without considering anything else, Naturalism has an enormous hurdle to leap as it cannot allow even one instance of supernatural intervention (i.e. miracles) ever, for all of time, or the whole theory falls apart.
