Technically he’s right that it isn’t treason, because that is defined very narrowly in the US Constitution:

“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.”

I believe that ‘Enemies’ was later defined by the SCOTUS as being only nations that the US was actively at war with.

Or second, some conspiracy nuts claimed that they found giant human skeletons, or Noah’s Ark, or the Ark of the Covenant, or the Holy Grail, or whatever, but mainstream scientists and archaeologists are covering it up.
