Now, far be it from me to ask the government to come in and regulate bedroom activities, but I cannot and will not condone any sexual activity outside that set forth in the Bible period.
Translation: the government won’t force you to behave how I want, so I’ll just have to force you myself!
Does this make me a closed-minded bigot?
YES!!!!
Perhaps, but I’ve been called worse.
Have you? A lot of you all seem to think being called “bigot”, “racist”, “homophobe”, etc, is the worst thing possible.
See, unlike the majority of people, I see most things in a black-and-white kind of way.
This is linked with extreme immaturity. Toddlers see the world as black and white and then as they grow up they learn it isn’t. Apparently you skipped the whole “growing up” part.
I have a book that quite clearly spells out morality
Does it actually? Or is that only if you skip the parts where it says something completely contradictory to what was said like a page before?
and wether you like it or not, the United States was founded by Christian men (and women).
No, some of them were, some of them weren’t. They understand the need for religion to take a backseat to actually fairly govern a people. The theocracies they were trying to hold at arms’ length were nightmares to live, as are the theocracies still in existence today.
For one to properly interpret the document on which the country is founded, shouldn’t one also examine the documents that the Founders adhered to (or at least tried)?
They did read the Bible, it’s true. They also read a lot of other stuff that actually does inform their views on governing - Greek and Roman philosophers, lawyers, and historians, and enlightenment thinkers like Hobbes, Locke, Montesquieu, Kant, etc… They were also heavily inspired by the Iroquois Confederacy.
Have you read those? Somehow I don’t think you’ve gotten much beyond your god book.
