Word is that the Russian offensive is already running out of steam. Putin apparently thought this would be a perfect blitzkrieg, but there’s been enough resistance and little enough of relayed supplies that, for instance, the tanks are already running out of fuel. Meaning Putin forgot how important logistics are to strategy. In addition, several Russian companies were less than thrilled on figuring out they were there to kill Ukrainians as opposed to “just” quelling them.

Putin has apparently been sitting among more and more sycophants of late, rather like Hitler and Stalin. That would explain why he apparently rushed in less than ready to properly prosecute this invasion.

It does say something that this lot thinks of “proper” war not as an attempt to dominate resources or people, but rather to destroy any competition outright—or rather to destroy the Other so they never have to look upon them again.

I’m not sure the root of their grudge is “lack of trophy bedmate”. I’m not sure how to phrase it as concisely as the above quotation marks, but the source grudge probably includes the universe’s “failure” to make them omnipotent and immortal from the onset.

He at least has right that scribes did alter bits of the Tanakh. But it may not have been especially meaningful, as those alterations seem to have been non-Torah sections thought to be disrespectful of God and such. Habakkuk’s prophecy is one example; in it, Habakkuk says to God “you shall not die”. Associating God with mortality, even in such a clearly negatory sense, seemed disrespectful, so the scribes changed it to “we shall not die”. Although in context, Habakkuk is bothered by God’s cavalier attitude about using Akkadian conquerors to shut down Hebrew classism, so he’s basically saying that if anyone needs to take the human fear of death seriously for once, it’s God. (And as Ezra & Co. proved, the classism still stuck around; God’s stratagem didn’t work.)

At the very least, they don’t expect El to skimp the punishment of Lucifer—even if it would require greater mortal perdition? (Expect a lot of guesswork in that previous sentence.)

There do seem to be theologies, though, that posit God’s holiness is such that anything he creates at all, just by being distinct from him, “deserves” perdition lest he be polluted somehow. Putting soteriology aside for now, this means that God’s holiness is the ultimate good, outweighing Kindness, Love, etc. by several googolplexes. At least.
