I’ve heard a lot about diversity and gender and stuff like that lately, as I am contracted to a large employer with hundreds of branches and tens of thousands of employees. I’ve also admitted, here on this website, that I don’t actually understand things like transsexuality, agender, bigender etc. But that is not really relevant. All these slogans about diversity, inclusion etc, can basically be summed up in four words:
“Don’t be an asshole.”
I don’t really want to start referring to Poppy (not real name) as ‘they’. There is only one of Poppy (who does not have MPD either) and while ‘they’ and ‘them’ have always been used for single people, the words imply a distance that could be perceived as hostile. However… if someone’s really fixated on not using pronouns like ‘they’ or ‘them’, there are ways to do this WITHOUT BEING AN ASSHOLE.
I still maintain that a M2F athlete most likely has an advantage over her female peers, depending on how far she went down the male path before she transitioned. But again, such incidents are rare enough to be decided on a case-by-case basis. DON’T BE AN ASSHOLE.
The use of foreign language pronouns does not require ‘studying your ass off’ (unless it’s a language like French where inanimate objects and concepts have male and female pronouns applied on a seemingly arbitrary basis, which is off topic anyway). DON’T BE AN ASSHOLE.
