Yeah, but what they realized is that a drop like that can’t be pinpointed to the level they’d need it to be in order to be effective. IIRC, the explosion of force could take out a city block or two, but launching at a city would be like picking a block at random and having it blow up. Not ideal when the entire point of using a rod instead of, you know, a bomb or something is to minimize taking out things that aren’t the target…
And the reason I know they’re talking about orbital satellite weapons when they’re talking tungsten rods is because the entire point of trying tungsten is that it survived re-entry better than most other metals they tried. Otherwise you wouldn’t use a somewhat rare metal like tungsten.
I also don’t entirely know why he’s boasting about Russia’s hypersonic missile, when the only evidence of it even existing is Putin and his war generals saying “Trust me, bro, it exists and we’ll blow you to kingdom come with it!”.
