New York’s new law allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses is part of a dangerous trend of lawmakers putting the interests of illegal immigrants over the safety and welfare of American citizens.

Thanks to so-called Green Light Laws, illegal immigrants can already obtain licenses in 13 states, as well as Washington, D.C., according to the National Conference of State Legislatures, and more states are jumping on the bandwagon.

These policies don't just help incentivize more illegal immigration — they risk creating more Angel Families like mine. Unfortunately, Democrats are becoming bolder about pushing such reckless policies, even introducing legislation in conservative states such as Texas. We can’t just resist this trend; we have to reverse it.

My life was changed forever on May 12, 2014, when an illegal immigrant killed my son, Mesa police Sgt. Brandon Mendoza in Arizona. Since that fateful night, I have committed my life to making sure that nobody goes through the pain and suffering my family — like other Angel Families — has had to endure. This is a danger American families should not be have to be exposed to.

Dangerous new laws
President Donald Trump has made tremendous progress, but Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill and in state capitals across the country are doing everything they can to obstruct his border security agenda, stymie enforcement of federal immigration laws and create incentives for even more people to enter our country illegally.

Running away all your life takes a toll:For undocumented immigrants, our enforcement policies drive a public mental health crisis

After New York implemented a law signed by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo that allows illegal immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses last month, Department of Motor Vehicles offices were flooded with applicants on the first day, turning an already tedious experience into an hours-long ordeal.

That same Dec. 16, across the Hudson River, the New Jersey Legislature voted to enact its own Green Light Law that not only grants illegal immigrants access to state identification, but might also enable them to vote, since New Jersey automatically registers people to vote when they apply for a driver’s license.

My son was killed on his way home from work by an illegal immigrant driver whose blood-alcohol content was three times the legal limit. The driver, who was also high on methamphetamine, sped down the highway in the wrong direction before crashing into my son’s car. He had multiple criminal convictions during his 20 years living illegally in America.

Mary Ann Mendoza and her son, Brandon Mendoza, in Hawaii in September 2013.
Now that New York has also implemented its misguided bail reform law, illegal immigrants who commit supposedly “nonviolent” crimes will find it even easier to escape incarceration and avoid facing justice than they did before.

There are real dangers associated with allowing people who have already demonstrated a willingness to violate our laws to enjoy driving privileges and obtain government identification — and they go far beyond road safety.

Giving illegal immigrants access to services ordinarily reserved for American citizens and legal residents not only increases the burden on taxpayers, it can also incentivize further illegal immigration, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of dependency.

Challenges to Trump's reforms
The Trump administration has worked to reduce those incentives at the federal level by authorizing more resources for immigration enforcement, building or planning to build hundreds of miles of border wall, and closing legal loopholes in our asylum policies that had been exploited.

Those efforts are paying off: The number of immigrants apprehended after attempting to enter illegally last month was only a third of those who were apprehended last spring.

Unfortunately, liberal lawmakers are just as determined to undermine the president’s agenda by hampering enforcement of federal immigration law.

Ring of truth:Do Democrats believe in open borders? By not enforcing immigration law, it looks that way.

Just recently, Washington state filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the practice of arresting illegal immigrants at state courthouses. Massachusetts had already filed a similar suit, resulting in a preliminary court order blocking federal law enforcement from arresting illegal immigrants at courthouses, though that ruling is being appealed.

The so-called sanctuary movement is an extension of the same warped mentality — prioritizing the convenience of illegal immigrants over the safety of American citizens — that led directly to my son’s death. The illegal immigrant who killed Brandon was arrested in 1994 on burglary and assault charges and was convicted of a conspiracy to commit burglary, but he skipped out on his court date. Even though he was a fugitive from justice, he was let back onto the streets in 2002 after he was apprehended and offered a plea deal.

Such leniency toward law breakers is not a form of compassion — quite the opposite. It’s a direct assault on the rule of law that puts innocent people at risk in order to protect violent criminals. Granting illegal immigrants access to government services and privileges such as driver’s licenses only exacerbates the problem

The outcome of these policies is as tragic as it is predictable. Democrats’ open-borders agenda will lead to more illegal immigrants, more crime — and more Angel Families.

President Donald Trump #conspiracy #sexist #wingnut usatoday.com

[WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Tuesday attacked Sen. Kamala Harris over her questioning of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings in his first public remarks since she was named Joe Biden's running mate.

Harris, a former prosecutor, grilled the judge over sexual misconduct allegations against him during the contentious 2018 confirmation hearings.

"And the horrible way she treated Justice Kavanaugh, that was a horrible event. I thought it was terrible for her, I thought it was terrible for our nation," Trump told reporters during a White House briefing. "I thought she was the meanest, the most horrible most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate."

Trump saved his remarks on Harris for the scheduled briefing. But minutes after the announcement, Trump tweeted a new campaign attack ad on Harris, a vocal critic of the president. The ad accuses Biden of "handing over the reins to Kamala while they jointly embrace the radical left."

"She is also known, from what I understand, as being just about the most liberal person in the U.S. Senate and I would have thought Biden would have tried to stay away from that a little bit," Trump said.

Biden announced Harris, one of his former Democratic primary challengers, as his No. 2 pick after weeks of speculation in the lead-up to next week's Democratic convention. She will become the first Black woman and first Asian American person on a major party's presidential ticket.

Following the announcement, the Trump campaign seized on a feisty exchange between Harris and Biden during a June 2019 Democratic debate, when the California senator was still in the race. Harris challenged Biden over his remarks about working with segregationist senators and criticized him for his previous opposition to federal busing mandates – a moment that hobbled his campaign and led to her brief surge in national polls.

"Not long ago, Kamala Harris called Joe Biden a racist and asked for an apology she never received. Clearly, Phony Kamala will abandon her own morals, as well as try to bury her record as a prosecutor, in order to appease the anti-police extremists controlling the Democrat Party," Trump senior adviser Katrina Pierson said in a statement Tuesday.

"She is proof that Joe Biden is an empty shell being filled with the extreme agenda of the radicals on the left," Pierson added.

'MythBusters' star Adam Savage's sister accuses him of sexual abuse when they were kids

Former "MythBusters" co-host Adam Savage has been accused of sexual abuse by his sister.
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Westchester Supreme Court, Miranda Pacchiana says she was "sexually abused as a child by her brother.

Documents state that from 1976 to 1979, when they lived together in Sleepy Hollow, New York, Savage, now 52, "would repeatedly rape Miranda Pacchiana and force oral sex upon her, and forced Miranda to perform oral sex on him, along with other forms of sexual abuse."

At the time of the alleged abuse, Pacchiana was 7 to 10 years old and Savage was 9 to 12, according to the documents.

Adam Savage of "MythBusters," seen here at 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, has been accused of sexual abuse by his sister.
The lawsuit states Pacchiana was "horrified and traumatized" by the abuse and seeks to "recover for the emotional and physical suffering she incurred and to make sure that no other child is forced to suffer the abuse and physical and mental trauma she felt and continues to feel."
In a statement to USA TODAY provided by attorney Andrew Brettler, Savage denied the allegations.

"While I hope that my sister gets the help she needs to find peace, this needs to end. For many years, she has relentlessly and falsely attacked me and other members of my family to anyone that will listen," the statement says.

"By spreading numerous untrue stories about us in pursuit of a financial bonanza, she has tortured our entire family and estranged herself from all of us. I will fight this groundless and offensive lawsuit and work to put this to rest once and for all." Brettler also provided a statement from Savage and Pacchiana's mother, Karen Savage.

"It makes me very sad to say this, but my daughter suffers from severe mental health challenges, and it’s devastating that she’s putting Adam and our entire family through this," she said. "Adam is a good man, and I support him completely."

Savage's science series "MythBusters" ran from 2003 to 2016 on the Discovery Channel, and it was later revived for a run on the Science Channel.

Tarrant county Republicans in Texas will vote Thursday on an effort by a faction to remove their vice chairman, Shahid Shafi, because he's Muslim.

Fort Worth is the largest city in Tarrant county.

The campaign against Shafi, a trauma surgeon and member of the Southlake City Council, was mounted by a small group of Republicans led by Dorrie O'Brien, a precinct chairman from Grand Prairie.

O’Brien writes on Facebook that she “never doubted” her side has the votes to remove Shafi from his post.

“We don’t think he’s suitable as a practicing Muslim to be vice chair because he’d be the representative for ALL Republicans in Tarrant County, and not ALL Republicans in Tarrant County think Islam is safe or acceptable, O'Brien wrote on Facebook, adding that "there are big questions surrounding exactly where Dr. Shafi’s loyalties lie, vis a vis Democrat and Republican policies.”

O’Brien says her effort to oust Shafi is not about his religion, but whether he supports Islam or is connected “to Islamic terror groups,” according to the Star-Telegram.

Trump spiritual adviser: Jesus wouldn't have been Messiah if he broke immigration law

A spiritual adviser to President Donald Trump said that Jesus would have been "sinful" and not "our Messiah" if he had broken immigration law when fleeing persecution as a baby with his family.

Televangelist Paula White made the comments to the Christian Broadcasting Network when asked about what biblical scriptures came to mind as she visited a migrant detention center in Bristow, Virginia.

"I think so many people have taken biblical scriptures out of context on this, to say stuff like, 'Well, Jesus was a refugee,'" White told the news outlet in an interview published Monday. "And yes, he did live in Egypt for three and a half years. But it was not illegal. If he had broke the law, then he would have been sinful and he would not have been our Messiah."

White also praised the care for the children at the center, saying they received "three square meals" as well as medical and psychiatric care, among other amenities.

An Alabama Islamic organization is asking for an investigation after a Muslim family said a McDonald's purposefully served them bacon.

The family ordered 14 McChicken sandwiches Monday and found bacon inside each one. The McDonald’s McChicken sandwich should only include a chicken patty, bun, shredded lettuce and mayonnaise.

Khaula Hadeed, head of the Alabama chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, told AL.com the incident was “an intentional act of religious and ethnic bigotry."

Because of religious reasons, Muslims do not eat pork. One adult vomited twice after noticing the bacon, AL reports.

The family, who has not been named, reportedly ordered the sandwiches at a Decatur, Ala., location. The operator of the McDonald's location denied the act was intentional.

“We want to assure our customers that this was not an intentional act by our employees,” said McDonald's operator Rick Walter in a statement, Decatur Daily reports. “We value every customer and strive to ensure all orders are accurately prepared and served."

Brian Hamilton #fundie usatoday.com

Indiana State Police Trooper Brian Hamilton was warned before: Stop proselytizing to people during traffic stops.

But a new lawsuit claims the trooper — who was sued once before for preaching on the job — didn’t learn his lesson the first time.

A complaint filed in federal court Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana, on behalf of Wendy Pyle, accuses Hamilton of asking her whether “she had been saved” after pulling her over in Fayette County in January. Court documents claim Hamilton then told the woman about his church and gave her directions to it.

“Ms. Pyle was extremely uncomfortable with these questions,” the lawsuit says. “In order to hopefully end these inquiries Ms. Pyle indicated that she did attend a church and that she was saved.”

If this story sounds familiar, that’s because Hamilton has been sued before. The ACLU filed a similar lawsuit in 2014 when a woman named Ellen Bogan claimed Hamilton stopped her that August for an alleged traffic violation in Union County. After he handed her a warning ticket, she said, he asked her if she had a home church and whether she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior.

“I’m not affiliated with any church. I don’t go to church,” Bogan told IndyStar at the time. “I felt compelled to say I did, just because I had a state trooper standing at the passenger-side window. It was just weird.”

Jonas Minino's father #fundie usatoday.com

WASHINGTON — Supporters and opponents of same-sex marriage faced off Tuesday on the plaza in front of the Supreme Court as the justices gathered inside to hear a landmark case on the subject.

On the same plaza on Saturday, Jonas Minino faced off against his father.

Minino's father is a pastor in Northern Virginia, and his sister is married to a pastor, and they oppose same-sex marriage as sin. Minino, who lives in Washington, is gay, which has long been a point of contention for the family.

"They believe I can change, that I have some kind of psychological disorder, that with therapy I can change myself," Minino said Tuesday as he returned to the plaza. "I believe I should be able to marry the person I love."

His father and sister came to the court Saturday with buses full of congregants from their church.

Minino, 32, came to the court to stand in favor of gay marriage.

He didn't see his family that day, but they saw him. Afterward his father sent him a text telling him he would go to hell unless he repented, which Minino shared with USA TODAY (translated from Spanish):

Dad: "I saw you there (at the rally) on the side of the children of darkness. Christ is coming soon. Please don't be lost. The fires of Hell are real."

Minino: "forget I exist. I'm going to leave you with this photo." (The photo is of Minino with friends in front of the Supreme Court holding up a gay pride flag).

Marino said he kept the texts because "he's my father and I love him."

But he said his father has made comments his entire life about how he can change his homosexuality.

"I'm done," he said. "I'm done with the hate. I'm done with the comments. Why do I have to go to hell because I'm gay?

"Now I will have to find a new family."

Contrary to popular misconception, Islam does not mean peace but rather means submission to the commands of Allah alone. Therefore, Muslims do not believe in the concept of freedom of expression, as their speech and actions are determined by divine revelation and not based on people's desires.

Although Muslims may not agree about the idea of freedom of expression, even non-Muslims who espouse it say it comes with responsibilities. In an increasingly unstable and insecure world, the potential consequences of insulting the Messenger Muhammad are known to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Muslims consider the honor of the Prophet Muhammad to be dearer to them than that of their parents or even themselves. To defend it is considered to be an obligation upon them. The strict punishment if found guilty of this crime under sharia (Islamic law) is capital punishment implementable by an Islamic State. This is because the Messenger Muhammad said, "Whoever insults a Prophet kill him."

However, because the honor of the Prophet is something which all Muslims want to defend, many will take the law into their own hands, as we often see.

Within liberal democracies, freedom of expression has curtailments, such as laws against incitement and hatred.

The truth is that Western governments are content to sacrifice liberties and freedoms when being complicit to torture and rendition — or when restricting the freedom of movement of Muslims, under the guise of protecting national security.

So why in this case did the French government allow the magazine Charlie Hebdo to continue to provoke Muslims, thereby placing the sanctity of its citizens at risk?

It is time that the sanctity of a Prophet revered by up to one-quarter of the world's population was protected.

LC prides itself on showcasing how people live, offering a look into a world we may not often see. The cable network has brought us The Duggars, The Little Couple and Sister Wives.

On Sunday, TLC plans to air My Husband's Not Gay, a one-hour special about four Mormon men who are married to women but attracted to men. They refer to it as SSA, Same Sex Attraction. In the special, the four couples explore talk about their lifestyle decisions.

It's causing controversy before it has even aired.

A petition started by Josh Sanders on Change.org says the show "promotes the false and dangerous idea that gay people can and should choose to be straight in order to be part of their faith communities."

Sanders goes on to say he is a "devout Christian" who was told as he was growing up that he should "pray the gay away." In the end, it only caused "despair."

GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis echoes his sentiment, saying in a statement on the group's site, "This show is downright irresponsible. No one can change who they love, and, more importantly, no one should have to. By investing in this dangerous programming, TLC is putting countless young LGBT people in harm's way."

[...]

As one man on the show says, "Just like I can't choose not to be gay, I can't choose not to be a person of faith."

TLC has responded to the objections, saying in a statement, "The individuals featured in this one-hour special reveal the decisions they have made, and speak only for themselves."

On Tuesday's Good Morning America, Robin Roberts said the "gay community is really fired up" about the show. "To even give the idea that it is a choice can be very dangerous especially to young people who are dealing with their sexuality and trying to figure things out."

Let me say this again, the 14th amendment created no new rights. Not for sane sex marriages or otherwise. It was strictly for ex-slaves. The constitution has never given any judge, federal or state the power to create rights of any kind. All issues on morality is in the power of the state and people. No judge has constitutional authority to override the will of the people.9th and 10th amendments. There is no absolutely no right to same sex marriage in the constitution. All moral rights were instituted in the colonial conventions. All state constitutions then banned homosexuality as anti-Christ and Satanic which it is. America was created by Christians to promote Christian values. Now these satanic judges controlled by this real fallen angel is promoting his dark kingdom through these people and judges because he knows when Jesus returns He will destroy them along with him. However, in the mean time the earth is going to attack every state with harden weather Luke it was ordered to do. Next these judges and people who have challenged God will be plagued by more diseases including leprosy.

Allen Smiley #fundie usatoday.com

I challenge anyone to show me, where in the constitutional ratifying conventions, same sex marriages were made a right? Moreover, the 14th amendment created no new rights. It pertained strictly to freed slaves not rights for such antichrist behavior. The federal government was created to promote Christianity, thus the phrase,"In the year of OUR LORD". First chief justice John Jay made this absolutely clear in document one of the Federalist Paper. The churches need to read the history of religion in this nation. Separation of church and state is a lie by antichrists like judge Hugo Black. Nor did Jefferson ever say such in his reply letter to the Danbury Baptist. He said the federal government cannot be used by another Christian denomination to force them to do as they do, thus creating a 'wall of separation'. The states still could support Christianity only and nothing else. Antichrists have gotten in positions in the government to promote the government of Satan to war against heaven on earth which is why Christ will destroy all governments of man upon His return.

And if the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. It all comes from, I would argue, this right to privacy that doesn't exist in my opinion in the United States Constitution, this right that was created, it was created in Griswold — Griswold was the contraceptive case — and abortion. And now we're just extending it out. And the further you extend it out, the more you — this freedom actually intervenes and affects the family. You say, well, it's my individual freedom. Yes, but it destroys the basic unit of our society because it condones behavior that's antithetical to strong healthy families. Whether it's polygamy, whether it's adultery, where it's sodomy, all of those things, are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family.

Every society in the history of man has upheld the institution of marriage as a bond between a man and a woman. Why? Because society is based on one thing: that society is based on the future of the society. And that's what? Children. Monogamous relationships. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.

Wow! How to respond to this. This is such a sensitive issue with the hearts of so many women who want to have babies, and your spin on the whole thing is disgraceful! But- since you don't seem to know- the Catholic Church- who are the majority of those who you will see praying outside of abortion clinics- myself included- does not believe in IVF!

We believe that babies should be conceived from the marital union of a husband and wife. Now, since so many of the people out there are using sex as a recreational act, it does happen that many babies are born out of wedlock. We do not believe that these babies should suffer or be killed because their parents did something they shouldn't! If you do not believe abortion is murder, check out the bottom half of my blog. You have to scroll down a bit. http://getalife-itsyourchoice.blogspot.com/

And- again- if parents don't do the correct thing, we do not believe that unwanted fertilized eggs- aka- little humans- should be used for scientific purposes! We are FINE with stem cell research that uses stem cells that are NOT from aborted fetuses or fertilized humans. There is actually fabulous science out there and some cures being found from existing stem cells. No humans need to be destroyed.

And- what to do with all of those embryos out there in frozen storage. That is a problem but again- these little humans should not pay for things their parents did wrong. We keep going down this slippery slope and it is causing all sorts of problems and headaches that we could not have even imagined!

(O'Reilly offers himself up as proof of a god)

"Next time you meet an atheist, tell him or her that you know a bold, fresh guy, a barbarian who was raised in a working-class home and retains the lessons he learned there.

"Then mention to that atheist that this guy is now watched and listened to, on a daily basis, by millions of people all over the world and, to boot, sells millions of books.

"Then, while the non-believer is digesting all that, ask him or her if they still don't believe there's a God!"

(In reply to an article about Pagans praying at the temple of Athena in protest to pieces of it being moved to museums.)

Good grief! Another religion? Maybe it's just an offshoot of Wicca-----or the other way around------or something.

[Regarding an article about a summer camp for children of atheists, agnostics, and humanists:]

Reading this article, I can somehow here “The International” sung in the background. The only thing missing are the red kerchiefs.

If the Catholic Church would have weeded out Gay Priests there would not have been an Alter Boy scandal. There will always be a minority of people that can not control themselves and having Gay men in those type of situations, including Priests, Scoutmasters, Coaches and etc., is flirting with disaster. Just like a minority of straight men could not be trusted with young girls. How many men are Girl Scout leaders?

[On the controversial movie, Golden Compass]

This is a sick way to target children. Athiests should be banned from getting anywhere near children.
KIDS are off limits. Their minds, bodies etc are off limits!

Athiests are obviously free to think as they wish but to cram this down unsuspecting children's and parents' throats is a violation of freedom. This is past the limit of acceptance by any parent. It is predatory.

I think there are laws protecting children from predatory propoganda.

Anything that targets children should be considered illegal like porno, pedophiles (in any profession), abuse, KKK , athiests, etc.

I have no problem with homosexuality. I have a problem with homosexual acts. As I would with acts of other, what I would consider to be, acts outside of traditional heterosexual relationships. And that includes a variety of different acts, not just homosexual. I have nothing, absolutely nothing against anyone who's homosexual. If that's their orientation, then I accept that. And I have no problem with someone who has other orientations. The question is, do you act upon those orientations? So it's not the person, it's the person's actions. And you have to separate the person from their actions.
