I once knew a girl who claimed I couldn’t have disabilities because ‘women don’t have disabilities’
Sounds like someone who was sheltered from birth.
As I've mentioned before, my own mother was born with a club foot condition. She couldn't wear high heels and never learned to ice skate (in Minnesota!) like her brothers. And my father's sister was born with a crossed eye.
I imagine a LOT of people have similar stories. And I am glad to see more WWD in tv shows like ER, Glee, NCIS, Star Trek, and so on. I would really like to see transgender characters on tv, but hopefully we'll get there.
Human diversity is a lot of fun. And seeing how disabled women compensate reassures me that if my body goes wrong as I get older, I can cope, too.
