* The elite is an extremely broad term, but in general, it is defined by influence and respect.

* The 1% refers to wealth distribution. It is not synonymous with “the elite.” Someone can be influential and respected (the distinguishing features of an elite) without being in the 1% wealthiest in the world, and one can also be extremely rich while hacking little respect or influence outside of paying for stuff. In particular, the elite are mostly politicians, media personalities, academics, and other “think tank” folks.

* The Bourgeoisie is the “merchant class,” basically anyone that makes money by taking a cut of the profit from someone else’s work. This is much, much larger than either the elite (which would be called “the political class” by Marxists) or the 1% (which might be called the “Grande Bourgeoisie”).

* The Rothschilds are a specific family.

* The Illuminati don’t exist any more.

Those terms are not synonymous. Picking one communicates how you think power operates in the world. Failing to pick one makes it look like you want a scapegoat, and don’t really care who or why the goat is chosen.

You correctly identified the performative nature of Carl’s Jr. and their face mask rule. But then you turn around and conclude that the novel Coronavirus doesn’t exist, and that the restaurant owners are pretending that it does.

That’s silly. We know that it would be in Carl’s Jr.’s best interest to have no mask rule at all. It makes far more sense to assume that the virus is real, nobody should be visiting restaurants right now, and Carl’s Jr. made them mandatory so that they could earn a quick buck while pretending to have “solved” it.

It’s actually quite horrifying, when you think about it. Their customers are going to get sick because they weren’t satisfied with take-out-only.

Are we sure that this isn’t malware?

There are basically two reasons to use a ZIP file. One of them is for compression, but the ZIP compression algorithm is not effective on MP3 files, because those are already compressed. The other reason is if you have multiple files that you want to distribute in a single download, but that’s redundant also if you’re only sending one MP3.

In other words, their stated use case makes no sense. But there is a situation that would make sense. A lot of crappy firewalls will allow ZIP files, but block EXE files. So if you want to smuggle a Trojan horse past one of those crappy anti-malware tools, this is one way to try.

Or maybe they’re just including a picture file alongside the music, like Bandcamp often does.
