So many conservatives fail to recognize that advertisements are intended to make money, not convey honest messages. But they’ve never been that great at media literacy. Maybe that’s part of what makes them the way they are?
The reason women and girls today are, as OOP says
as a rule, revolting ugly slobs by their own choice
is because we actually have a choice now!!! We didn’t before! When those stupid, gross ads were made we didn’t have choices. We were ostracized and called spinsters and subjected to physical punishments if we didn’t make a ton of effort to please men. And then lots of times, after we spent years putting ourselves last and always putting dudes first, we got left for younger women. And yeah, now that we are putting ourselves first or at least at the same level as men, men of course feel like we’re taking their rights away. But what they don’t realize is that they shouldn’t have a right to control what women wear in public, or how much effort we put into our appearances, and they never should have in the first place!
