Jason Klop #ableist #quack cbc.ca

A Fraser Valley naturopath who charged families thousands of dollars to give their autistic children pills and enemas made from human feces has agreed to give up his licence, after more than four years of investigations and legal battles.

Jason Klop has claimed "dramatic improvements" in the autism symptoms of children as young as two that he's treated with fecal microbiota transplants at clinics in Mexico, Hungary, Australia and Panama, at a cost of about $15,000 US.

Klop has now admitted that his business violated multiple standards and regulations of his profession, according to a public notice posted online by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C.

Under the terms of the consent order, Klop has admitted to promoting and selling fecal microbiota transplants (FMT) for autistic patients in defiance of Health Canada rules and the scope of practice for B.C. naturopaths. The notice says he continued to do this work even after being warned he was breaking the rules.

He's also admitted to making "unverifiable statements" in his advertising, and allowing Canadians to have intermittent access to his website, despite promising they would have none.

Doctors and scientists have warned that any other use of this emerging therapy is experimental and carries serious risk of infection, while people with autism have denounced Klop's procedure as an unproven treatment that puts vulnerable children in danger.

Anecdotal myth. Link me with a single internationally-recognized academic paper with supporting empirical data validating this claim. Isn't it amazing that until only recently, the word "homosexual" was never included in the World Jewish Congress-sanctioned Encyclopedia of the Holocaust? Yet over the past 15 years, a whole corpus of historical revisionism was invented to retrofit homosexuals as Holocaust "victims". Forget the fact that an estimated two million German homosexuals served in Hitler's armed forces, a leader who himself was homosexual.

Fundamentalist Baptist father told not to teach hateful beliefs to children
A B.C. judge says a fundamentalist Baptist father who believes homosexuals should be executed shouldn't have any say in the religious upbringing of his children.
The father's parenting time is limited to two hours per week on Monday afternoons at a McDonald's Play Place in the Fraser Valley while AJH sits elsewhere.

JKH asked the court for the ability to bring the children to his home, while the mother asked Mundstock to order that she be given sole responsibility for the religious and spiritual upbringing of the children, aged two, four and five.

Both parents are practicing Christians. AJH said their relationship fell apart when JKH started watching online videos of two American religious leaders known for extreme and hateful views on abortion, homosexuality and the Holocaust.
The father's uncompromising nature also led the judge to reject his application to have the children at his house during his parenting time. JKH admitted that he wouldn't comply with an order prohibiting him from teaching his children the Bible even if the judge made one.

The judge left it to the parents to decide what is best for the children in the meantime.

His legal-aid laywer, Elfriede Duclervil, told reporters that it has been impossible to prepare a defense for Bain.

When Duclervil asked Bain whether he understands that he is accused of first degree murder, Bain said that he does understand, and that Christian soldiers don't murder.

He told the court that he was given a vision "for the peace and harmony for all Canadians" by his Lord and Savior.

"I am a Christian soldier and we Canadians shall never surrender to fight the evil separatists," he said, adding "God bless you all."

Black Lives Matter Toronto #fundie cbc.ca

Members of the Black Lives Matter Toronto group briefly halted the Pride parade today, holding up the marching for about 30 minutes.

The parade didn't re-start until after Pride Toronto executive director Mathieu Chantelois signed a document agreeing to the group's demands.

The organization was given the status of Honoured Group for the parade, which is the grand finale of Pride Month. It did not give Pride Toronto advance notice of their planned sit-in.

Alexandra Williams, a co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto, told CBC's Natasha Fatah that they held the sit-in because they wanted to hold Pride Toronto accountable for what she called "anti-blackness."

[...]

The group released a list of demands, including a commitment to increase representation among Pride Toronto staff, and to prioritize the hiring of black transgender women and indigenous people.

Some of the other demands Chantelois agreed to are that the parade will no longer have police floats, and the organization will hold a public town hall with groups such as Black Lives Matter Toronto within six months.

Paul Heffler et al. #racist cbc.ca

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is conducting an investigation after a video circulating online this week shows uniformed members of its force having a racist conversation.

One officer said, "Our days are done. White man's day is done."

Another replies, "you're probably right."

A third said, "you're onto something."

"The population of North America, we're the minority I think even at this point," one goes on to say. "You go to Toronto and every couple you see walking by is a mixed couple. You don't see white and white people together. It's white [and] Asian, white [and] East Indian. I told my son he can find a Chinese, Asian girlfriend. If he wants to stay in the mix, get your foot in the door."

The conversation is an example of the "enduring notion of white ownership of this nation," despite North America first belonging to Indigenous people and being "built on the back of free labour, of Blacks under slavery, and also exploitation of Chinese labour." Xiaobei Chen, a sociology professor at Carleton University, also said the conversation is problematic because it suggests using Asian women as the solution to the "disappointment that they're feeling" — and is an example of the long-standing sexual exploitation of Asian women. Chen said she hopes OPS uses this video to address white "nationalistic notions and racism and colonialism within the police force."

One of the officers in the video, Const. Paul Heffler, said his words were taken out of context. He said the conversation in question was harmless and the comments about demographics were based off an article he had read. "In my opinion, I didn't see racism in that. I didn't see it when I said it and then when I listen to it again, I still didn't see it," Heffler said.

While answering a reporter's question Tuesday, [Alberta Premier Jason] Kenney said the debate around immunizations and COVID-19 mandates is causing deep divisions among Albertans.

Unvaccinated people are being treated like they are "somehow unclean," he said.

"Everybody should avail themselves of the protection of safe and effective vaccines, and that the choice not to get vaccinated is not just a personal choice — it does have social consequences.

"But it's never OK to treat people like that, to stigmatize people in that way. In a way, it kind of reminds me of the attitudes that circulated in North America in the mid-1980s about people with HIV/AIDS — that there's this notion that they had to be kind of distanced, for health reasons."

[Critics of] the comments pointed to Kenney's role in attempting to overturn a law extending hospital visitation rights to gay couples during the 1980s AIDS epidemic in San Francisco.

A new political organization with roots in conservative Christianity is endorsing a number of school board candidates across B.C. who have anti-vaccine, anti-government and conspiratorial views.

ParentsVoice B.C. is registered with Elections B.C. as an elector organization, or civic political party, and is backing 29 school board candidates in eight school districts.
Running under the slogan "Take Back Our Schools," the party says it's aiming to reverse what it sees as the politicization of classrooms.

Many candidates running under the party's banner support political positions inflamed by the pandemic, with rhetoric similar to right-wing groups in the United States — including criticism of public heath policies and school programs about racism, gender and sexuality.

But an in-depth review by CBC of candidates' online material found that instead of promoting their political beliefs, many candidates have tried to obscure them — in some cases by deleting old social media posts.

Let’s be clear here – the issue is not with Asians per se—that is a large continent comprising people from Turkey all the way to Japan and everything in between. Let’s point to the obvious – its primary the Chinese. Its not the Koreans, Japanese, Mongolians or others though there are obvious pockets in Surrey and Abbotsford.

Let’s also be cognizant of the historical reality of Chinese colonization in SE Asia which explains the massive wealth distribution issues in the Phillippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia etc. Let as well be aware of the outcome of East Turkistan and Tibet and what Chinese demographic expansionism has done there. Let also be clear of the direct correlation between real estate prices in Vancouver and Chinese money and how the city is becoming increasingly monocultural.

What is happening to Canada is eerily similar to what has plagued that region of the earth for hundreds of years and our politicians, multiculturalists, Coast Salish pundits, housing developers etc. are carelessly allowing to take place here on our soil.

This is treason.

Nicole White and Pam Renouf #fundie cbc.ca

A same-sex couple from St. John's is upset after discovering the jewelry store that sold them their engagement rings has posted a sign that seems to oppose same-sex marriage — but one of the store's owners says he's allowed to post his religious beliefs.

When Nicole White and Pam Renouf went looking for engagement rings a few months ago, the pair couldn't find anything they liked. The couple was eventually referred to Today's Jewellers in the Mount Pearl area because the store offers custom-made rings.

White and Renouf visited the store and later gave specifications and a price range for potential rings.

"They were great to work with. They seemed to have no issues. They knew the two of us were a same-sex couple," White said.

"I referred some of my friends to them, just because I did get some good customer service and they had good prices."

That was before one friend went in to purchase a ring for his girlfriend — and instead found a distressing sign.

It reads: "The sanctity of marriage is under attack. Let's keep marriage between a man and a woman."

'It was really upsetting'

The friend took a picture of the poster, which made its way back to White.

"I had no idea about the sign up until that point," she said.

"It was really upsetting. Really sad, because we already had money down on [the rings], and they're displaying how much they are against gays, and how they think marriage should be between a man and a woman."

The couple went to the store the following day, and asked about the sign.

"They just said that that's their beliefs, and they think they can put up whatever they want. I just said it was very disrespectful, it's very unprofessional and I wanted a refund," White said.

"I have no issues with them believing in what they believe in. I think everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But I don't think they should put their personal beliefs inside their business."

White and Renouf hope to get a refund when the man who sold them the rings returns to town next month — but it's not guaranteed.

White said the rings were meant to be a symbol of love, but now the bands seem tainted.

"I think every time I look at that ring, I'll probably think of what we just went through," White said.

Esau Jardon, the co-owner of Today's Jewellers, said he posts several signs in his store throughout the year.

"I have been posting different aspects of my religious beliefs the last 11 years, and I've never had one single problem with any of my customers," he said.

"It seems to be a Canadian right to post what you believe."

Jardon said the sign in question was posted for Mother's Day, because it had to do with families. They also have pamphlets and cards that they hand out at the store as well.

Jardon said he's an immigrant, and feels blessed to live in Canada.

"One of the reasons my family chose to come to Canada was the freedom of rights," he said, noting the freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

"Nothing in that shop or in these posters is against the law... There's nothing there that means to discriminate or to hate anybody else."

Jardon said he won't apologize for his beliefs.

"I feel really bad that [White] feels that we would in any way try to hurt or discriminate against her, but we will not retract from what we believe. I cannot say, 'Well because you feel bad, I will stop believing what I believe,'" he said.

"When I walk on Church Street in Toronto, where I am right now, and I see [LGBT rainbow flags], and I see a lot of signs and a lot of things on public property, I don't have a problem with them. I accept it. I chose to come to Canada... and we accept the whole package... I don't discriminate against that, nor do I come and tell them to take them down. For the same reason, I ask to have the same respect in return, especially when it's in my own business."

Jardon said he's getting a big backlash from social media.

"I had to shut down the Facebook page because of so many hate emails and phone calls and just, really nasty stuff," he said.

When asked if he would offer a refund to the couple, Jardon said he won't be bullied into apologizing for his beliefs or to work for free.

He said the finished rings are ready to be picked up; White and Renouf just have to pay the balance.

There was one Adam, one Eve. They were joined by God alone. One female horse, one male; one female parrot, one male, at the beginning, as He told us to go back, there was only one pair of anything. Then we find out that everything in the beginning was running in perfect order and harmony with God; nothing was out of cater. Now, when human beings was running in continuity with God, with one man and one woman, this woman sinned. And it throwed the whole earthly program out of continuity with God. Then it was the woman that caused the separation of the lovely home. It was not a Cherubim that bothered the earth. It was not Adam that throwed the home out. It was not anything else that throwed the home out and throwed the whole thing out of continuity, but a woman: Eve.

A woman left her husband's body rotting in a bedroom of their home because she thought he would rise from the dead, a Hamilton court heard Monday.

?Kaling Wald pleaded guilty to failing to notify police or the coroner that Peter Wald had died from an illness that wasn’t being treated. She received a suspended sentence and an order to get counselling as well as 18 months probation.

The macabre case first came to light back in January, when the woman was arrested and charged with neglect of duty regarding a dead body and indignity to a body. The two charges were withdrawn and replaced with the single charge.

[...]

Wald died around March 20, 2013, according to summary of the case's facts provided by Crown counsel Janet Booy. He had diabetes and was suffering from a foot infection, she wrote. Neighbours in the area told CBC News that Wald had been seen hobbling for some time before he stopped being seen in public.

When neighbours asked his wife about him, all she would say was he “was in God’s hands now.” Wald refused to go to hospital, court heard Monday. "He believed God would cure him," Booy wrote.

Neighbours described Wald as a deeply religious but kind man. He could be seen driving through Hamilton in a blue Astro van adorned with religious symbols and sayings. He could also be seen wearing clothing with religious-themed writing on it.

A Nova Scotia garlic farmer has put the brakes on high-speed internet coming to Victoria Harbour, a rural community on the Bay of Fundy, fearing radiation from microwave towers will affect his crops.

Lenny Levine, who has been planting and harvesting garlic by hand on his Annapolis Valley land since the 1970s, is afraid his organic crop could be irradiated if EastLink builds a microwave tower for wireless high-speed internet access a few hundred metres from his farm.

"I think over a period of time it will change the DNA of the garlic because it shakes up the molecules," he said Tuesday.

EastLink uses microwave transmission to provide high-speed internet access to rural areas outside its wired network.

Levine said he moved to the country to get away from pollution, and he sees the radiation from the towers as another form of pollution.

"I view it with dread, fear and panic," he said. "I don't want to grow food under those conditions."

A petition in support of the high speed internet tower was signed by the majority of householders in the area. Meanwhile, the people of Victoria Harbour are stuck with dial-up internet.

According to his Facebook page, Parhar recently travelled to South Carolina for an event called Flatoberfest 2020 — a gathering of conspiracy theorists who believe the Earth is flat. Parhar made an appearance at a rally in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery on Sunday and bragged about breaking the mandatory 14-day self-isolation period upon his return to Canada. "I'm not going to put myself in prison, because I'm a free man with god-given rights," Parhar told a small gathering of COVID-19 conspiracy theorists in a video posted to YouTube. He claimed a border agent was "rattled" by his suggestion that the Quarantine Act doesn't apply to him, and said he told them he's not legally a "traveller" or a "person" under the law. "They're not used to people who aren't obedient little sheep," Parhar said in Sunday's speech. Parhar also spoke in Sunday's speech about police visiting his house on multiple occasions over the weekend to fine him for breaking quarantine, and mocked an officer who revealed a relative had recently died of COVID-19. "People don't die of COVID, because — you guys already know this — COVID doesn't exist," Parhar told his supporters.

(Tim McLean was the victim of a knife attack on a Greyhound bus.)

Members of a fundamentalist American church group planning to stage a protest at the funeral for a Winnipeg man brutally killed on a Greyhound bus have managed to enter Canada, a spokeswoman told CBC News on Friday.

Canadian border guards are under orders to prevent members the Westboro Baptist Church, a controversial Kansas-based sect, from entering the country.

The group intends to picket the funeral of 22-year-old Tim McLean to tell Canadians his slaying on July 30 was God's response to Canadian policies enabling abortion, homosexuality and divorce and remarriage.

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day's office sent an alert to border patrol to "look out" for people with signs and pamphlets consistent with the messages that the church promotes and to keep them out of the country.

But Shirley Phelps-Roper, daughter of church founder Fred Phelps, said a group of church members was turned away from a border crossing at Niagara Falls, but a small group did manage to get into Manitoba overnight.

"They were looking for picket signs and they were looking for leaflets. Well, we don't do leaflets, and the picket signs, you know, Fed Ex ships them overnight," she said.

However, Phelps-Roper said the reaction the group has raised from some police and public officials has her questioning whether the planned protest will go ahead.

"The question to my mind [is] whether or not we ought to get them the heck out of that country, because that's some crazy stuff when you've got your officials talking like they are in a back-alley brawl and not government officials who took an oath to obey the law and so forth."

Phelps-Roper said she would advise church members not to go ahead with the protest if she was concerned they would be arrested or harmed.

(A counter-protest is planned.)
