The great thing about assuming the worst of every situation is that you can learn to be glad to be wrong. I’m glad I’m wrong. Doesn’t really lower the “larval serial killer” flag for the kid, though. Intentionally distracting his supervision to hurt that cat shows premeditation and specific knowledge his actions were wrong. I’m not one to endorse physical punishment but that’s definitely more than “go to your room” territory. That kid needs to be assessed by a psychiatrist at the very least. Maybe a stay in juvie to set him straight.

I had a pellet gun when I was young and liked target shooting. I also had supervision. A highly *abusive* supervisor but frankly when you’re handling something that can injure and potentially kill that’s far better than not being supervised.

Here’s an idea: Stop putting genders on birth certificates. When the parents want to put a gender identity on the documents they have to meet the same criteria trans kids are currently subjected to if they want to transition in the most “biology based Christian common sense real American” states and get charged with child abuse if they fail or are found to be manipulating the diagnosis as per Republican standards for “accepting” a gender identity not recognized.

Remember: SCOTUS made it legal for a President to just say “do it” without any other legal or constitutional considerations. Also to suspend SCOTUS pending re-nomination and vetting on suspicion of actively working against the constitution by letting the President DO that bullshit in the first place.

I think it would frustrate them infinitely more to use a Christian bible that is not in line with their preferred interpretation, like the Mormon version. It complies with the letter of this unlawful demand and the harder they try to justify saying it’s the “wrong” bible and how much it alienates even the broad category of Christianity the more they try to dance around the fact their broad language is to distract from their plan to gradually delegitimize all but the most specifically politically convenient interpretation the more they tip their hand and hopefully piss off every individual church that no longer has the luxury of assuming themselves in the preferred citizen class. They may not be particularly self aware but if the right framing is used, that Republicans are banning Christianity in classrooms if it isn’t the Christianity they specifically want, it might just stick.

Even a simple difference in a single passage like “forgive our tresspasses” compared with “forgive our debts” can be a source of SEVERE conflict. Take that dog whistle out of their mouth and let them articulate what they’re REALLY getting at. See how that goes over with people who thought they were comfortable and safe interpretting the whistle to mean what they wanted to mean.

The foundation of your nation is nowhere in the Bible, your founders were quite emphatic on that point. Insisting it’s in there to establish a falsehood as the root “fact” from which you draw all further conclusions and getting children used to substituting a constructed narrative with no factual basis into any point of uncertainty or even when the facts plainly contradict what you want them to believe is the only point of this. It makes it easier for when you inevitably invoke the Bible to convince people to let you do things the Bible doesn’t actually say you should be doing. Often things not just the law you flagrantly ignore but the Bible itself says are wrong.

This same practice of manufacturing a root falsehood is the exact reason when asked about the Constitutional legality of this move Republicans first frame the situation as a teacher “choosing” to put up the commandments when choice doesn’t exist. The reason all discussion of why it’s wrong to do so opposition to the commandments of honoring they mother and father or forbidding murder rather than “Thou shall have no Gods before me” and the state sponsoring a single religion - and a single interpretation of a religion - was one of the reasons the “pilgrims” romanticized in American history fled to America in the first place. The reason the worst men imaginable frame sexual assault as their victim “changing their mind” fasely implying pre-existing consent. The reason all talk of non-heteronormative, non-gender-conforming issues is portrayed in relentlessly sexual language and framed as something forced on people by others - changed from their “natural” state - and spoken of only in terms of the power parents should have over children. The parents choices are in so many words the children’s “choices” even when the child says otherwise.

The root falsehood simply replaces all further facts. And in the case of being a “Christian nation” aforementioned commandments about not killing are suddenly a lot more flexible because of the root falsehood.

It’s the same tactic. Over, and over, and over, until the time you were a civilization of laws and individual rights is suddenly and frighteningly over. And then that’s when you go to work making new root falsehoods to apply to the past to make it more palatable.

I think you overestimate the intelligence of racists self-assured that they’re saying what everyone is thinking. That issue would remain for a single hard smack but the hard smack is something they would twist to feed their persecution complex. Something they may initially treat as a lighter slap on the wrist however they may not notice building up into something that threatens their quality of life - a building series of financial adjustments, personal sacrifices to luxuries they are accustomed to in order to cover expenses, the appearance of fiscal irresponsibility, and social consequences that would genuinely pain them more than hard time because of their sense of self-importance - and that’s the trap I want to catch them in along with limiting their chances to connect with more extreme elements and diminishing them in the eyes of more dangerous people they would have less chance to build a rep with. If time served is the only means they can cultivate their reputation in prison and the amount of time served is due to being unable to shut the hell up and having no sense? An organized criminal group that might have pulled them in during a long sentence from a single charge would instead consider them a liability to spill information and chase them away. A *seemingly* lighter punishment may initially cause them to reoffend quickly but at the same time it serves to make them appear all the more pathetic and the stigma of being a repeat offender, especially in a short timespan, can actually do more damage to their social life and job prospects as someone who is chronically unreliable and making trouble than a harsher sentence. It certainly works that way for minorities in North America who keep getting arrested on considerably less legitimate charges. I’m a fan of ironic comeuppance.

I’ll just come out and say it. The point you brought up about psychology and coercion? For me that is actually the bigger issue rather than genetics. Some of these people might think to argue around procreation - use of birth control, the legal practicalities of judging intent to impregnate, infertility, etc - but the coercive factor is inescapable. We have a few quotes here that try to justify incest and there was a distinct emphasis on exploiting a familial power imbalance and that the possibility of being ejected from the home was a background threat that could limit resistance/retaliation once emotional dependency was capitalized on. By and large that’s the real appeal to these sick bastards. My opinion is heavily weighted on how viscerally I react to violated trust, authority abused, dependency weaponized, the bonds of blood invoked to guilt and shame and manipulate and attempt to obligate trust no matter how it is abused and broken... so much so the biological aspects are nearly irrelevant to me at least in comparison. I don’t know if that makes me fucked up but I felt I needed to expand on that point and the inherent predation it represents.

Cleaning up after your family reunions must require a black light and a whole lot of bleach.

… I know this is a weird thing for me to get fixated on but the prison time and fine seem reversed in what severity is appropriate. 3 years is enough time to get sucked into a racist gang and radicalized, feeding into delusions that marginalized groups hold disproportionate power and exacerbating the problem when the offender gets out with a host of new connections to much worse criminals. Conversely 45 euros feels like a joke lost income notwithstanding. Racists are more deterred by inconvenience and mild discomfort than a chance to talk about themselves like they’re martyrs. A heavier fine collected repeatedly if the offenders can’t help but run their mouths and a prison stay brief enough that’s it’s little more than a temporary disruption to their lifestyle that deliberately makes them look like small fry with names not worth learning to the rest of the inmates (possibly after spending the day doing monitored community service, preferably in the community that was slandered) feels like it would be more effective to me. They chip slowly but surely away at their own financial security and quality of life this way with nobody to blame but themselves instead of a harder one off smackdown - one they would think to use to lionize themselves - and that’s going to leave more of a psychological sting. Even trying to look at it from the standpoint of someone who approves of their criminal actions petty crooks would eventually look down on them asking why they aren’t smarter criminals since they’re constantly getting caught for the same thing. They can further be pressed on why they’re *choosing* to become unreliable employees and a drag on the economy rather than being forced out of their jobs in such a way they can shift blame. *Choosing* to be absent from the lives of their families which is used heavily in racist rhetoric. Turn the tables on one of their own narratives.

At least… that’s how I see it playing out.

Apart from that it’s just depressing to know that a political party whose supporters are all such crass, cringeworthy, idiots who publicly harass good people in a profession that’s supposed to be defined by empathy for your fellows and service to the general public - people that might specifically be taking care of THEM in their infirmity when their families are unable or unwilling to do so passing them off as a burden as tends to be the custom among racists for all their disingenuous talk of looking out for their own - has a real shot at gaining enough power to let those crass idiots dip right into the worst of their depravities and indoctrinate their children into complete monsters without consequence. Even moreso to see this as a growing global trend in countries that are supposed to know better. They certainly like to think they’re bastions of enlightened civilisation, at any rate, even though we seem to be bent on clawing the world back into a Dark Age and having an even harder time learning from our mistakes.
