Some, but not by much, the South had to have it vaguely separate but equal (lots of loopholes for this), blacks could up and leave the region entirely (not without white southerners trying to prevent said movement) but what I recall South Africa didn't even have the separate but equal clause and native Africans were more of less forced into what amounts to full blown concentration camps.

At least as far as I know at any rate.
