Err… let’s skip whether the study actually shows what it says it does (I would need to really look into its methodology for that), but it definitely doesn’t say ANYTHING about either intelligence, whether these math ability associated sites are more common in asians (how could it, it was a study done entirely on chinese children!) nor whether they are less common in black people.

Race as a biological classification is useless and non-predictive. THAT has been shown time and time again. Any research done using it as a qualifier must have an immense bias, especially in the US, where the definition of who is black and who is not is really damn arbitrary from a scientific point of view (note: no study on genotypes etc. ever used “black” or “white” for their classifications).

We KNOW that environment and education have a dramatic impact on intelligence, regardless of genetics. One of the most often overlooked facts about colonialism in Africa for example is that the colonialist powers deliberately sabotaged the education of the people they subjugated, since uneducated masses rarely successfully rebel. This, combined with bad nutrition, low life expectancy, and the cultural and methodological biases in IQ testing explain the gap between average IQs pretty easily. Same goes for african-americans, whose education and prosperity was sabotaged by systemic racism for hundreds of years. And yet, now that the situation slowly gets better for them, the statistics show a drastic bridging of these gaps, which we wouldn’t expect if it was all just genetics.

But this of course is something racists will never admit. They need to feel better about themselves for something as arbitrary as a goddamn nationality or skin color. It’s honestly pretty pathetic.

Oh, I am not surprised at all. It all comes down to a fundamentally misandrist worldview, men are always as strong and powerful as need be in it to be a danger to women. Ok, it’s bad enough when people start to try and white-wash history so that the descendants of fucking slave owners won’t feel bad about their heritage (in reality a transparent ploy to do the same mistakes all over again, and continue the ones that were never really solved), but saying this openly that slavery is and was not bad? Let’s get a bit philosophical here: Why is it bad to own a human being as property? First of all, because human life has inherent dignity and worth. Hell, the question nowadays is not whether that is true, but whether this should also apply to other animals as well. Reducing a human being to property is a crass objectification and dehumanization.
Continuing from that, it will ALWAYS cause slave owners to abuse them since the threshold of violating their base human dignity has already been crossed and (in my opinion) there is an inherent need to force yourself (as a slave owner) and others to see slaves as somehow “not human” to continue viewing them as property and to not develop empathy with them. Easiest way to do that? Violence, rape, casual murder, impossible living conditions (including very much sub-par housing and food they had to grow themselves on the side) and (in the case of american slavery, but also elsewhere) rampant racism as a rationale to explain away the humanity of the slaves. And this rationale sadly survived its original intent, best seen in the discriminatory practices and laws all over the US against black people.
Being christian or being converted to Christianity didn’t help black slaves at all, since they were not seen as people in the same way as white people (to explain away the problem of Christianity demanding to not violate and murder your fellow men).
The US is FAR from being the best country in the world (it should not be a competition anyway), and it DEFINITELY wasn’t for black slaves.
And if it’s true that some brought their freedom and then took slaves themselves, then these people were assholes too, but just like people who become violent because they know nothing but violence in their life, that’s because of the dehumanizing system they were already born in, created by white slave owners.
If you still don’t understand the horrors of slavery by now, of being forced without consent to work without pay, dehumanized into property for profit… then it’s obvious that your only agenda is to make your white conservative listeners feel better about their slave owner heritage and their own racism. Or you are fucking stupid. Or both.

Well, yeah, but science doesn’t state that it gives you more than an empirical model of reality based on repeatable observations. That’s the best anyone can do. Religion makes truth statements based on faith, and that is fine, but it is special pleading to say that “reading the bible” or “god’s revelations” somehow aren’t phenomenal in nature. As described in the link Basthetotep provided, you can’t EVER be certain about the authenticity of divine revelation, and in fact, since we know that religions and religious denominations and their respective revelations are usually mutually exclusive (and even tell you that in their respective religious texts) most of them HAVE to be wrong, and I would argue that all of them are (which is the most parsimonous possibility). None of them would get you to the numenal layer either.

Let’s be honest here: The true nature of reality overall is probable not within our grasp to ever fully understand, no matter what we do. The numenal will always be just out of our reach to truly be certain of. But that’s fine. You can even have faith in the numenal being a certain way, just understand that you are likely wrong and no one else has to share that faith (something most religions will probably never do, since they thrive on making very dogmatic, numenal truth statements). I prefer the eternally incomplete, but at least repeatable and internally consistent models of phenomena around us that science continuously improve upon (even if it will never fully complete them) to that though.

I just recently had a very nice talk with a researcher in biological sex differences in humans. Apparently, across multiple parameters, there are only very few that show significant differences in either average (body hair, height) or variance (aggressive behavior and MAYBE intelligence) between the two ends of the bimodial sex spectrum in humans (aside from primary sex characteristics of course). And these differences are all pretty small. In general, how much nutrition and social care plays a role in that is also still not entirely clear (though there is a genetic component to it without question). Seems like humans are in general surprisingly uniform.
It is so strange to me that alleged feminists (or those that portray themselves as such) are now putting so much emphasis on these very few, tiny differences, as if EVERY woman was weaker and less athletic than EVERY man. Or that EVERY woman will express these sex-developmental differences the same way. Seems to me like a recipe for getting back to a neo-victorian revival of the “different spheres” theory of how the sexes work. Let’s just segregate all of society based on sex, that won’t cause any issues! Fuck, they are playing into the regressive right-winger’s hands so willfully, I’m really not sure that this is not by design.

To the research methodologist: It’s difficult to define “trans”ness because it is a phenomenon that hasn’t been studied very well so far. What we do know (and that’s were the “trans” part comes in) is that transpeople have an inborn lack of congruence between their chromosomal and hormonal biological sex at birth and the sex their brains develops towards (though it might be even more complicated than that), leading to a further lack of congruence when it comes to their sex and their gender later on. It’s difficult to fully define precisely because biology is messy, but there are clear differences to for example intersex people (who simply express phenotypical developments of both sexes) and nonbinary gendered, agendered and genderqueer people (which are different gender expressions and are not at all bound by biological sex). You can be all three of these things because they do not directly contradict each other from what I can tell. As I said, it’s messy, but that’s nature for you.

To the other person: Shove your conspiratorial and frankly both transphobic and misandrist nonsense right up your own ass, you hateful prick. You are no better than the people calling all homosexuals “groomers”. Ok, no, FUCK no! Just to clarify a few things here: As someone from Münster myself (though I wasn’t at the CSD in question) this instrumentation is enraging me with no end!

So, let’s go over the facts (or at least what we know so far):
During the CSD in question, two young men started insulting a few lesbian women as “lesbian whores”. Malte C., a young transman, tried to intervene, at which point one of the two men told him something like “You are not even a real man!” and punched him so hard that Malte fell on the asphalt of the street, the fall most likely causing the severe brain hemorrhages that lead to his death after a few days in artificial coma.
The two men fled from the scene, but someone with the description of one of them (the alleged perpetrator) was detained a day later. Now, at that point several things that are all too common in Germany sadly had already happened:
- The judiciary had already downplayed the homophobic and transphobic remarks severely in its official press release by ignoring them and the fact that Malte was trans. This of course plays into the hands of TERFs, who tried to spin the event so that it fits into their worldview (which it doesn’t).
- The media (especially conservative ones) was suddenly way more interested in the nationality or background of the perpetrator instead of the rising anti-LGBT crimes in Germany once it turned out that the detained man (who as I remind you has not yet been found guilty) was originally from Cecnia and was to be deported for some time now.
- This lead to the right and conservatives doing what they do best, focusing entirely on the fact that this was clearly a sign that immigrants with their “outdated worldviews” are entirely to blame for anti-LGBT and misogynist crimes, that “the left” tried to downplay this fact and that good old “Bio-Germans” are never at fault and in fact would never bother these filthy fags.
Which of course is hypocritical to the extreme, since the German right is doing all it can to copy Republicans with their fear-mongering of “sexualization” and “grooming” of children through LGBT, of “gender gaga” etc. etc. The rising anti-LGBT crimes in countries like Saxony with its famously low immigrant population are of course ignored as well.
And as such, not even a week after Malte’s death, people are talking about “evil muslims” instead of the rise in anti-LGBT crimes. Again. What a fucking disgrace.

Nope, fractally wrong in so many ways, it’s not even funny. Incels doing what they do best, taking things out of context, mixing some scientific and pseudo-scientific excerpts with their own toxic hypothesis and claiming that this blatant cherry-picking is in any way “proof” of what they are saying.
I don’t have the time to go through all their points, so just a few notes:
- First of all, neither the sneaky male phenotype, nor the “male alliance” hypothesis, nor the fact that in sexually deprived and violent environments, sexual dominance hierarchies between people often start to appear would explain homosexuality. At best they would show why heterosexual people engage in (superficially) homosexual behaviors, but these are all not about actual homosexuality. Sneaky males don’t exist in humans, despite what incels think, we don’t have the sexual dimorphism necessary for it and even more importantly, there are no regular breeding displays among humans where sneaky males could hide among females to not get the attention of the displaying “alpha males”. That’s just not how human society works.
- Many, MANY studies about homosexuality suffer immensely from the fact that it is simply still not socially accepted in large parts of the world. This always leads to biases when people are asked about their sexual preferences, for example more intelligent people might just be more open to telling others abouit their sexuality, just as autistic and disabled people. Or the sampling is just awful, which happens A LOT too. The guy who researched that IQ and homosexuality connection is also apparently a racist hack who favors pseudoscientific, biologistic theories of evolutionary psychology, of course Incels love him!
- And lastly, no, homosexuals actually DON’T change their orientation in such high numbers, you misread the study intentionally. In fact they say right in the abstract that “romantic and sexual orientation align closely the older homosexual people get”. What you meant are bisexual men and their ROMANTIC, not SEXUAL attractions. Totally wrong conclusion.

Oh and don’t get me started on the whole “homosexuality is men feminizing themselves”. As a pretty manly (not in a toxic way) gay guy with lots of similar gay friends, I have to reject that hypothesis utterly. You even write in your “Yaoi” section that Bara is a totally distinct genre for gay guys “overemphasizing their masculine traits”, but don’t see the obvious contradiction to everything else you wrote. People can be assholes who blame and insult you for not indulging their desires, news at 11. This does not at all give the OP and others like them a good reason to then blame EVERYONE sharing such identities for being like that and therefore implying that these identities are bad or untrue, that’s multiple jumps in logic they do here to justify their hate.
Also, the Stonewall riots, led by black transwomen, started the civil rights movement for lesbians just as much as it did for gay men, transpeople and other LGBT+ groups. So degrading and misremembering them only helps our common enemies, and it frankly disgusts me that a group of LGB people seem to fall for it, paving the way for their own renewed oppression.

Actually the numbers are probably quite a bit higher than that, since most studies about this were done during times were people were still deeply in the closet (or in countries with very discriminatory practices towards LGBT+). More modern research and in more open countries seem to point towards >10% bisexuals and about 5% homosexuals, while the number of transpeople seems to also rise. Of course, homo- and transphobes are just dismissing these numbers as being caused by homo- and transsexuality being “trendy”, but that’s utter bollocks.

Unfortunately, in case of transphobia, the LGBT+ community seems to split itself apart, so I fear that we lose the combined weight of the community in this case. I know of many transgender people who feel left alone or even discriminated by the gatekeepers inside the community, and I can’t blame them, considering assholes like the “LGB alliance”, TERFs or the growing number of lesbians (and even some gay men) who think that now that THEY have (almost) equal rights, its totally ok to switch sides and become oppressors themself. That trend disappoints me immensely.

Ok, first of all, where do you get the information that this is true for a “significant amount” of prochoicers? What is that amount anyway? Sounds like at least 20% or so, but the more realistic number converges towards 0. A true tokophobic would also probably be severely troubled by the probability of getting pregnant and therefore either be troubled by the thought of sex (with partners who can impregnate), or at the very least do everything in their power to stop it from happening. So no, you can’t have your cake and eat it too by claiming that they are phobic towards pregnancies but enjoy sex without complications (which is to say, you trying to blame women for having casual sex again).

And then you are not even keeping up the veneer of being truthful about this, with the common PRATT of “Well if you find pregnancies so disturbing, just don’t have sex WOMEN! You just want consequence-free sex, and that can’t be allowed!”.
The thing is, pregnancies can be quite dangerous. About 1 percent of all pregnancies suffer from complications, which doesn’t sound so significant, until you realize just how many women get pregnant and that modern medical techniques are a huge factor for keeping these numbers down. We are talking about almost a hundred thousand pregnancies with complications here. I have no direct experience with it, but I know that even without complications, childbirth can be drawn out, bloody, exhausting and painful. There is reason why in movies and television the actual happenings of it are mostly reduced to a cut and the baby in its mother’s arms.

I won’t even go into that whole “women must be punished for casual sex with babies” rethoric, it is asinine. Don’t even pretend to not be a misogynistic prick.

Ok, I will always be the first one to reject vigilante and mob violence as awful and rule of law breaking. And I will also say that non-offending pedophiles are people to be helped, not beaten up or worse. And that one of the best indicators of the justness of a society is how well they treat their criminals in my opinion. I find it extremely upsetting how much the public (and not just fundies like Ken here) are reifying the concept of two sexes as if they are undisputable scientific fact. It is a categorization that helps simplify certain models, and is defined differently depending on context, just like ‘species’ is, but taking it literally and dogmatically contradicts reality. There is no huge divide between males and females, and because of the utter complexity of sex differentiation mechanisms in humans, we definitely don’t have two sexes, but a spectrum with two poles, a bimodal continuum of sex. The whole ‘how many sexes are there’ debate misses the poijt entirely, since there is no such thing as clearly defined and not overlapping sexes. I fear though that this is something that will take decades to finally break into general knowledge, since even left-leaning and progressive people often seem to agree with the dualistic point of view in regards to biological sex, even if they should really know better (from my experience). Any idea of why that is?

The Marks and Regnerus study is controversial not because the LGBT or antitraditionalists or whatever boogeyman you conjure up put pressure on the science community to only publish studies that put same sex relations in a positive light, but because its methodology was crap. Just like racists constantly quoting The Bell Curve studies that compared impoverished black people with middle class and up white people to come to the fallacious conclusion that black people are biologically determined to be dumber than white people, this study didn’t actually look at many same sex couples and their children, instead looking at failed heterosexual couples and their children where one or both had split apart to later engage in a homosexual relationship, and then only compared that to healthy, stable heterosexual couples and their kids.

The conclusion (that children raised by same sex couples were more likely to lead worse lives later on) ignored that they were comparing apples and oranges. In fact up to 80 other studies didn’t replicate their findings, instead showing that children raised by stable same sex couples were often even better cared for and more successful than children raised by comparable hetero couples (which mostly has to do with the deliberateness of same sex partners raising a child, they are often way more prepared for it).

But, just like the Bell Curve studies and racists never shutting up about them, or anti-vaxxers and the Wakefield study, homophobes constantly claim that this one single fallacious and biased study proofs that homosexuals should never be allowed to raise children. Go figure.

Ultimately, that and the fact that the OP wants to force traditionalist views into university are an affront to actual scientific thinking. As always, for these people their POV comes first and the data has to conform to it, rather than the other way round. And just like Creationists, they always project their own failings in that regard on everyone else. Fucking assholes!

Haplotypes =/= Race =/= socially defined populations. Sigh. You are wrongfully reifying race with statistical haplotype probabilities. You know why it looks so nicely nation-specific? Because you are confusing the fact that you can tell with a certain probability which is the MOST COMMON haplotype in a country with the “fact” that this must mean that there is no overlap between these haplotypes between countries. In fact, the overlap between haplotypes is so strong that no clear line can be drawn between them. I have said it time and time again, but it bears repeating: There is no allele (and therefore no haplotype) that is unique to a certain population and doesn’t also appear elsewhere. There are no human races, especially not in the biological sense. Get the fuck over it! It’s embarassing at this point how much you cling to not-even-half-understood concepts that you can misinterpret so that you can say “Aha, races are real, I knew it! And mine is obviously superior!”.

We all have our biases, and in science they HAVE to be pointed out. Otherwise we get “gems” like The Bell Curve, which tries to prove that “black” people are simply genetically inferior to “white” ones, especially when it comes to the subject of intelligence by ignoring inherent biases in IQ tests, underestimating the impact of socioeconomic factors willfully and including sampling bias by comparing mostly well-educated “white” populations with mostly poor and less well educated “black” populations.
