Even if we believed the majority of these people were happy with "gender affirming care" all this proves to me is that these people are delusional. If they think they're changing their gender/sex all because they pumped themselves full of drugs, or think that their inside out dick turned into a vagina then they are delusional. The fact that they think they changed their sex because they removed certain organs just screams enough to me that these people are delusional. Look at how much Tony gets angry when people "misgender" him. Tony really believes he transitioned into a woman. In fact, there was a thread where he straight up argued with people that his neo vagina operates like a real vagina. Tony has no way of knowing what a real vagina is like, so his statements are just his delusions.

I've been thinking about that a lot lately. I firmly believe that all men know they are men no matter what special identities they might claim. They know they just need to lie and the handmaidens go along, and sadly does the law in some cases. They know they are using a new way to get what they want. The fact so many women accept their lies and just say "yes you are a real woman" is just another reason for those men to see women as weak and stupid and their misogyny grows. A guy that tried to date me in high school and later sexually assaulted me, who was also addicted to porn and a huge misogynist, tried to claim he was trans years later. I knew a misogynistic creep MRA who was also a pedophile (wrote a post about him some months back on here, too) claimed he is trans and changed his name. I know so many stories like this. Exactly. Gender ideology isn’t a “single issue” because it is actually about whether or not we recognize reality and truth. I will probably vote for Harris, because the Republicans also refuse to recognize reality on certain issues (particularly the environment), but I am tired of gender ideology being treated in such a dismissive reductive way on this site, of all places, and being shamed, as a woman, by other women, for thinking it is much bigger than that.

Seriously. The few people who know my entire terfy stance still don't understand my political dilemma (I'm in Canada, but will be facing a similar choice soonish). If I mention something about how it's going to be impossible to know what to do, they look at me like I'm completely crazy, like trans-ideology is a super niche and somewhat silly thing to factor in. Then I say something emotional about the rights of an entire half of the population, or compelled speech, or acknowledging the simple truth... then I tear up and my lack of sanity is confirmed for the other person. It's enough to actually drive me crazy!

How much of this gender madness is just a plot to prevent women from talking to each other about birth control, dating men, safety, while dating men, herbal ways of dealing with periods and pregnancy and childbirth. I’ve heard of folk magic and folk healing from my Appalachian ancestors and my African ancestors.women would give each other tips like drinking okra water before childbirth so that you don’t have tearing or straining. I sometimes wonder if this dogged belief that genitals don't matter (beyond just functioning to "affirm") stems from some men's (mainly TIM's) sexuality in which the artificial presentation of gender is what is attractive, not necessarily the sex of the person. This isn't to say that heterosexual TIMs aren't attracted to women, but I'm more so considering the bisexual (or pseudo-bisexual, depending on who you ask) TIMs. This may not make any sense, but I'm curious if anyone's got any thoughts on this, even if it's to say I'm full of shit.

I believe you're describing performative femininity. It's why some hetero males are okay with sexual relationships with TIMs because "it looks like a woman". They aren't exclusively attracted to the female body, they're attracted to the patriarchal idea of what a woman should look like. I imagine they also have no issues wearing knock off designer clothes and fake jewelry. If it looks real enough, then it's good enough.

I don't know if you can even really consider those men heterosexual if they're with a TIM (given that the vast majority of TIMs retain their male genitalia/don't mutilate themselves... and also because they are men immutably due to their chromosomal makeup). I think it's a natural consequence of gender ideology being massively spread to teenagers.

Gender ideology is equivalent to how conservatives told women that they should stick to gender roles. A woman is dumb, submissive, with few hobbies. If you like maths, climbing to trees or prefer legos to dolls, then you're a man. In comparison, being a man looks like much more fun.

Being a woman sucks so much in this ideology. Of course young women who believe in it will start identifying as anything else.

A few years ago they would have been called tomboys and could live their life, today they risk being pushed down a lifelong medical pipeline including a double mastectomy before their majority.

Non binary people are those who realize that they don't fit the stereotypes, but who did not reject gender ideology and try to adapt it to their personality somehow by creating additional genders (instead of recognizing that almost no one fits stereotypes and gender doesn't exist).

Sometimes I see TiMs posting with some actual self-awareness of how ridiculous the whole attempt to trans is, and they give up because they realize they will never look like a tiny feminine girl. If they are lucky they will stop the hormones and stop the pretending and realize they are men. Of course they hate their bodies and are pursuing an impossible dream, which will probably eventually kill them through drugs and surgery.

I think a part of it is also not being as online.

Truthfully, I did not find the idea of existing socially as a woman so ridiculous. At one point I probably would have been a trans med. The reality is the goalposts moved to insist that sex is just not real, and to deny us any terms to differentiate our sex based oppression, or to call out when TIMs are being misogynistic.

If they had stayed in their own lane, I could understand that some people really do feel a discordance with their appearance and that societies conflation of gender conformity with sexuality makes that difficult. "Transbians" can't really live as effeminate gay men, because they are actually straight men. Yet being effeminate will still always make others homophobic towards a straight man, and even doubtful of his sexuality.

The reality is for many older women, they're not online enough to see all of the details of this. I probably wouldn't be near as peaked if I weren't as online, and if I didn't know as many TIPs IRL.

Of course, an aspect of this is that I can openly say that here and gender critical feminists will have polite disagreement with me about it, without any of them screeching that I'm literally genociding them or trying to convince me I have to fuck them.

I think there are a lot of superficial "success stories", but if you dig a little deeper, it doesn't look so good, or it won't in the future. With people like Jazz Jennings and Kim Petras, their career prospects seem to be pretty much being Professionally Trans (that's also true for a lot of TiPs who trans as adults and end up become permanent e-beggars, content creators, or activists). Furthermore, many of them will suffer from health problems as they grow older, but we really don't know what that will fully entail for decades.

The point is that they want a state id to legally declare them as the sex they want to claim instead of what they are. Drivers licenses are used as legal id for a lot of things. & with real id rules, are required for flying unless you also have the less universal one or state id you have to have a passport as well. Changing sex markers on birth certificates, state id, drivers licenses, passports, etc. creates a legal precedence that enshrines gender ideology into law & declares that sex can be changed. They claim it is for safety so their id matches their presentation so they won't be "outed" & thus in danger of violence from possible transphobes. But realistically, most TIMs do not "pass" & even if they get id changed, ppl will know they are trans. But id changes also will normalize gender ideology claims so that society will get habituated to accepting that sex can change. It will go from being a legal fiction to normalizing the downgrading of the importance of biological sex.

Grandparents. And losing your grandchild to trans-creep
I call it trans-creep because it crept up on me, as the grandmother of a boy who decided he wanted to be a girl. Not as a young child but (the first I knew of it) in his mid-teens. This boy was my world, but after moving to & living in another country, as well as having (it seemed to me) unlimited access to social media, meant he was exposed to an online world he was left to navigate alone. I will admit....this is my view entirely because not once did anybody in either side of the boy's family sit down with me and have an open conversation, or ask me how I felt about what was happening.

Today I have no contact with my grandson, an estranged r'ship with his mother (my daughter), strained r'ships with my other children because of my gender critical stance (all of us live in NZ) and no contact at all with the paternal family because they live overseas. I did contact the other grandmother in the US and she is sympathetic but said that although she "had a very big problem with that at first. (my grandson's father) was the one who helped me through it." So they all appear to be captured by it. And I don't even know how often there is contact with the family overseas because nobody talks to me

I can count the number of grandparents with a trans-grandchild on one hand. And I only know about them in an online capacity.

Every time I read similar stories, it reminds me of the people I lost to addiction and (almost) to Qanon. You can love them and try to persuade them with logic and love, but the addiction is often stronger. I would hope that he is not addicted to porn in his young age but if he has unlimited access online then who knows.

Trans is also addictive because of the sense of community, and if he is ostracized or doesn't have strong community in real life, then they will make their own community online. Of course the community is built on empty words, as they find out after they trans and all their old problems remain.

I have no advice, I just click on these topics because I have young nieces and a nephew and I worry about them.

A few of their arguments that get my goat most:

- when we read about atrocities that happen to women in developing countries because they are women and feel a sadness and outrage that you can only feel as another woman and we say something like "sex is not a choice. Look what is happening to these women because of their sex. Our sex has been used against us for centuries across every society and it is horrible gaslighting to pretend it doesn't exist, it's a choice, or it can be changed." And they pretend their takeaway is that we've said "at least the Taliban knows what a woman is!!" Or "i agree with guys who take child brides! We both know who women are!" It's infuriating. As though pretending we don't know the difference between the sexes will magically make it so women and girls are no longer exploited for being women and girls.

- Riley Gaines said that men shouldn't be in women's chess. She very clearly said something like "there's no point in having a women's category if you're going to let men in." And they were running around saying "Riley thinks every transwoman on earth is better than every cis woman on earth at chess. How sexist!!" My guy, there are reasons for wanting things that are not a dick swinging contest. Do you think we don't want you in our bathrooms because you think we think you're better at peeing? We don't want you in sororities because we think you'll be too good at networking or braiding hair (i wasn't in a sorority, I am not sure what analogy to use here).

I do often try to find points of agreement bc it seems like there has to be something. One thing I find myself disagreeing with GC people about is what someone owes to the creative talent behind their rise to stardom. Don't get me wrong, I love JKR and I think all those actors who turned on her are wrong and stupid, but I don't think that actors should be compelled to agree with someone just because his/her work made the actor famous.

Radical trans theorists believe that anyone can be any sex or gender they declare, and that reality is not chained to any objective evidence and that sex and gender can change at any time.

Then there are people who have declared themselves a reasonable middle ground between these two extremes. I don’t cheer for the destruction of gay spaces as some kind of revenge normally, but if some men start experiencing even a fraction of what women have been taking regarding the TRAs, then maybe they’ll start peaking and we’ll get some real traction regarding the LGBDroptheT movement.

I have a relative with severe bipolar disorder and delusions of grandeur type narcissism. He believes he is a famous, incredibly wealthy inventor, even though he is completely broke and homeless. He lies constantly about how much money he has, or could get, the famous people he knows (think Elon Musk) and things he’s invented. He truly doesn’t understand WHY people don’t believe him. When people directly contradict his stories and beliefs, he gets angry.

TIMs remind me of him. They believe their own lies. How can this guy seriously say “I don’t know why they have a blanket ban on trans?” He’s lying saying that he would accept a reason. If the lesbians said “It’s because we aren’t attracted to male people, we don’t want to have sex or date anyone male…” he would be furious.

Thank god. It will be a domino effect, emperor has no clothes type situation I believe. Most people don’t agree with at least the most extreme parts of this movement (some people will probably always believe that there are True and Honest transpeople, but baby steps), but they haven’t been able to speak up because they know it’s not worth their job and their friends.

But if someone lets them know it’s OK to disagree I believe it will all come flooding out, gradually at first but with increasing fervor as all the voices join together.

The oppression is that someone, somewhere doesn’t buy into their identities. When you look at every individual thing they complain about and call “violence”, that’s it.

Any sexuality group they desire doesn’t want them (lesbians v. AGPs, straight men v. HSTSs, straight women v. lesbian TIFs, gay men v. straight TIFs)? Women don’t want to be TIMs’ besties? A religious institution won’t let them into wrong-sex accommodations? A child expresses fear at seeing them in a wrong-sex space? A woman smirks at a TIM? Oppression, oppression, oppression, oppression, oppression, because, in each instance, the rest of us are saying they aren’t what they’re pretending to be.

The genius in this is that there will never be a time to the heat death of the universe that they won’t be “oppressed”, so they get to milk their victim complexes forever.

I genuinely believe this is one reason Ellen Page transitioned. Pre-transition, she unsuccessfully tried to claim oppression for such things as most media being geared toward straights (gays and lesbians are ultimately a very small minority, they’ll never have the representation that would satisfy her), but it failed to land since most LGs recognize that reality and have moved on.
