Although there are exceptions, it is worth mentioning some “qualities” that have been highly valued in political commentary, which tend to privilege spectacle and polarization over depth and impartiality.

The first quality of a good political commentator is to have no doubts and to assume that he is rarely wrong, demonstrating unshakable confidence. In a complex world full of subtleties, the fashionable commentator presents his opinions with an almost dogmatic certainty. He has no doubts, and if he is mistaken, this error is quickly explained by a conspiracy theory, evoking, for example, the manipulation of public opinion by a biased algorithm of a social network. This narcissistic confidence conveys confidence to the public, who see in the figure of the commentator an anchor of stability and absolute truth.

A good political commentator is one who does not shy away from confrontation, who actively seeks heated debate, transforming exchanges of opinions into a gladiatorial battle in which “you either die or you are killed”. Their goal is not so much to clarify, but rather to win, marked by the humiliation of the opponent and the applause of the public. This combative stance guarantees audience and media relevance. By transforming the debate into a circus spectacle, the political commentator fulfills the role of entertainment, something that often seems to take precedence over the informative function.

In an environment where polarization dominates discourse, the eloquent political commentator knows how to draw on an arsenal of terms designed to disqualify opposing views. “Phobic” is one such epithet that, when used strategically, is particularly effective. Any criticism or disagreement can quickly be categorized as a “phobia”: xenophobia, Islamophobia, transphobia, etc. This rhetorical ploy allows the political commentator to divert from the substance of the discussion, focusing instead on disqualifying the opponent. After all, if the other side is “phobic,” it loses its legitimacy, and the public is led to view such an opinion as intolerant and retrograde.

He went on to rail against the so-called “deep state” and what he sees as the lack of accountability in the executive branch and eventually said of Gaetz:

Former President Donald Trump is suing CBS for $10 billion over an interview with Kamala Harris that aired on "60 Minutes" earlier this month.

The 19-page lawsuit filed Thursday alleges that the network committed “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference” by editing down a handful of Harris’s responses to interview questions. In addition to the massive sum, Trump's team is requesting an order that the network release the unedited interview in full.

Trump has fumed over the "60 Minutes" interview for most of this month, alleging foul play after the network aired two different portions of an answer to a question about the war in Gaza on "Face The Nation" and their flagship newsmagazine program. In the lawsuit, his attorneys claimed that CBS deceptively edited the vice president's "word salad" to harm Trump's election chances.

“CBS’s distortion of the '60 Minutes' interview damaged President Trump’s fundraising and support values by several billions of dollars, particularly in Texas,” Trump’s attorneys argued in the lawsuit filed in the Northern District of Texas [Amarillo Division].

During the discussion, Deevers asserted that Harris would never support any restrictions or limitations on reproductive choice because those who vote for her are “wicked, murderous people” who are “demon possessed.”

“They have rabid, wicked, murderous people who are voting for them and who are the loudest supporters that if they claimed even 30 weeks, 24 weeks, 15 weeks, they are going to be vicious against them and the demons are going to come out,” Deevers said. “I’m not saying that those people are demons; I’m saying that a lot of them are demon possessed.”

“The demons who want their child sacrifice, who want this land being covered in blood … that’s what the demons want,” Deevers declared. “Now, whether they theologically understand that, the demons know it that are advising them,” Deevers declared.

In 2023, Deevers and Wolfe were among the contributors to a document called “The Statement on Christian Nationalism and the Gospel,” which declared that the United States must formally “acknowledge the Lordship of Christ” in all its laws, “abolish abortion,” outlaw marriage equality, and “recapture our national sovereignty from godless, global entities who present a grave threat to civilization.” Wolfe is also a colleague of Project 2025 co-author Russ Vought, whose Center for Renewing America hopes to infuse Christian nationalism throughout a second Trump administration.

Trump has for years made the claim that American Jews who mostly vote for Democrats are mentally ill, and this year, he has taken to saying that Jews who vote for Democrats need to “have their head examined.” He has also repeatedly said Israel will be destroyed if he loses the election, a prediction he repeated Thursday.


But in this speech, he also said Jews would be at fault if he loses, citing the low percentage of Jewish voters who have historically supported him. Donald Trump’s former adviser has urged Fox News pundits to “cut the Kamala c**p” and stop referring to the vice president by her first name because it “personalizes her.”

Peter Navarro, a former trade adviser to Trump when he was in office, went on a three-minute rant about “Kamala” while appearing on Steve Bannon’s War Room on Tuesday.

Navarro warned Fox News and Newsmax hosts that in referring to Harris by her first name, they “personalize her” and it is not doing Trump any favors in the presidential campaign.

“Never refer to Kamala Harris only by her first name,” he said. “She is not a soccer star. Pelé, Messi, I get it, but when you use Kamala these days it does not do us any good. Works in the other direction. It personalizes her, it creates a favorable impression.”

Navarro, released in July from a four-month prison sentence, had some suggestions for fellow conservatives on how they could refer to the vice president.

“The only exception to that rule is if you use it with a Trump-like nickname. Kamachameleon... that’s not bad. Kamaliar... that’s not bad.”

Continuing his rant, Navarro pointed out: “When was the last time you heard somebody refer to Donald John Trump favorably or affectionately, simply as ‘Donald’? So cut the Kamala crap.”

Multiple justices have been embroiled in controversies, including Samuel Alito, whose household flew flags associated with the "Stop the Steal" movement, and Clarence Thomas who did not disclose numerous luxurious gifts and trips funded by a wealthy Republican donor

Several of them have faced calls to recuse themselves from certain cases and even to be impeached

Trump was speaking about these types of reactions when he said: "I believe they are playing the ref, they are constantly criticizing some of our greatest judges and justices"

He said later: "I really think it's illegal what they do with the judges and justices"

"Remember the term, playing the ref with our judges and our justices should be punishable by very serious crimes and beyond that," Trump added toward the end of his speech

He explained that the term "playing the ref" was a reference to Indiana basketball coach Bobby Knight

Now, even men and women who consider themselves Christians and/or conservatives justify the brutal murder of unborn babies. Donald Trump, while talking about his gratitude to God for miraculously protecting him from a deadly shooting, is compromising more than ever on abortion (even though most Americans believe in restricting abortion), and the main result is Trump’s own base taking offense.

Can we expect God to bless us when we have a multitude of excuses, in defiance of the natural and moral laws and ample scientific evidence—and in spite of abortion never being necessary to save a mother—as to why we should crush babies’ skulls and rip off their limbs? The Founding Fathers were pro-life, and they would have replied, “No.”
