Kennedy responded, “President Trump has a different way of calculating. If – there’s two ways of calculating percentage. If you have a $600 drug and you reduce it to $10, that’s a 600% reduction.”
Kennedy’s remark drew considerable mockery on social media. But he made a similar comment at a White House event with Trump on Thursday – and deployed additional incorrect numbers while trying to support his case.
Kennedy, apparently alluding to his exchange with Warren, said he had on Wednesday told a Democratic senator who challenged Trump’s claims of a 600% reduction in drug prices: “Well, if the drug was $100, and it raised the price to $600, that would be a 600% rise. Well, if it drops from $600 to $100, that’s a 600% savings.”
“That’s right,” Trump interjected as Kennedy was explaining. But it’s not.

I wrote recently about a reporter, Yasmeen F., who must scour the internet to report on stories of “white people behaving badly” for the Atlanta Black Star. The fact that most of her stories seem to be pure fiction is not my point. Instead, I want the reader to contrast Yasmeen’s reporting with the journalistic style of Fox News in the following article entitled, “Rowdy teenagers swarm DC Navy Yard in waterfront takeover despite police juvenile curfew zone”. Do you see it? Yesss… Fox News reporters judiciously avoid the use of the adjective “black” in their descriptions of “rowdy teenagers” or a “teen takeover”.
What is that exactly? Fox News is not alone. All media outlets do it. They self-censor, but for what purpose? It is obviously not for the purpose of deceiving anyone. One look at the video and you know it is not a flash mob with a bunch of theater kids singing “Seasons of Love”.
So, what is the purpose? I believe it is just another facet of what I call the Atticus Finch complex (a reference to the role played by Gregory Peck in the movie, To Kill a Mockingbird). But you may ask, how does one mentally place themselves in front of that fictional Southern courthouse, standing up to a mob hellbent on lynching an innocent black man, by leaving the word “black” out of an article about black rowdy teenagers?
This is my guess; by leaving out the descriptor “black,” the reporter is making a token gesture toward defusing any white anger directed at blacks that the article might incite. In essence, doing as Atticus Finch would have done in telling the white mob to calm down and go home — the “Great White Father” keeping his children in line. It works equally well in cases of teen takeovers or mass transit stabbings. The problem is not havoc in the street, but the reaction to that havoc.
My objection to all of it is simple. It is intellectually dishonest and cowardly to go out of your way to excise the word black from an article or your speech if the word black describes quite fittingly the rowdy teenagers.

These minds can discard conclusions when warranted without emotional involvement. These minds do not merge their identity with their thoughts. These minds shun ideology of all kinds, political, religious, et al. These minds know themselves as separate from their thinking.
The second floor view is called meta-cognition. Self monitoring in real time 24x7 leads to a different form of human insofar as social presence and interaction. Meta-cogs are remarkably swift thinkers arriving a conclusions easily and early, and are just as rapid in discarding these conclusions as they are shown to be lacking. Meta-cogs observe themselves thinking and living their lives.
Meta-cogs don’t mingle much with first floor thinkers. It’s just very awkward for everyone.

Of course, we have not begun to probe what might animate a man to present himself to the world as a monstrous parody of a woman. Suffice it to say that such behavior suggests some complicated psychodynamics. And why, exactly, are they suddenly on-display so extravagantly now across the country, supposedly for the edification of children? I’ll tell you why: It’s not actually for the sake of the children. The children are just pawns in what is actually a national political psychodrama. Or rather, they are hostages.

In Praise of Fallacies
All, or nearly all, the classical logical fallacies are fallacies because they are perfectly reliable social methods of weighing evidence in real life in cases where logic does not necessitate an answer.
Ad hominem: It is normal and reasonable to take the character of the witness into account when weighing the believability of his testimony — it merely does not necessarily prove he is lying here and now, even though he lies frequently.
Ad Antiquitatem: It is normal and reasonable to pay more respect to a belief that has stood the test of time, and been found worthy by several generations to pass from father to son. This does not prove an older belief is true, but it may shift the burden of proof.
Ad populum: It is normal and reasonable to take into account whether a belief has been pondered and accepted by a large number of people, rather than being a fringe belief, believed by a few. Two heads are better than one. This does not prove the popular belief is true, but it means the unpopular belief must overcome a greater burden of skepticism: for one must not only explain the question at hand, but also explain why this wisdom is confined to so few.
Ad Verecundiam: It is normal and reasonable to defer to expert opinion on a topic, if the experts have spent more time, effort, or resources studying the issue, particularly if one is in no position to compare this with what is commonly known. Again, it does not prove the expert is correct, but it may shift the burden of proof.
And so on.
These and all such cases, the modern propaganda techniques that have been used on you, dear reader, every day of your life include a deliberate and ever-present falsification of all these social proof: every expert you have ever heard was paid and pressured to give false testimony, every poll and presentation make popular opinions look like crackpot fringe beliefs, and made crackpot fringe beliefs look popular, and the idea that your ancestors were brutes and idiots never to be consulted on any topic has been inculcated insidiously into every storybook and movie as could be. The normal ways normal people untrained in logic use to separate believable from unbelievable have all been captured and perverted and reversed. So beware. Logic, strict logic, is now the only remaining bulwark between your mind and the screaming abyss of chaos.
But why has the family been so attacked by this postmodernist current that seeks to impose a vision of the person based on hyper-individualism and self-determination? The strategy seems driven by a logic of cultural power and intolerance towards dissent. Those who intend to shape society through a political doctrine begin by trying to weaken the family unit. It has long been understood that where there are men and women secure in the love that unites them and who are able to transmit it to their children, this institution is resilient, resisting the onslaught of any radical ideology.
The unilateral exaltation of rights and the historical reparation of the oppressed against the oppressors has become a true obsession for some. It was in this context that a social and political movement was born, finding its broadest expression in wokism. Radicalism conquered multinational corporations, the media, universities, the arts, sports, etc. In many countries, the State allowed itself to be captured by this ideological wave which, over time, has shown a worrying tendency towards intolerance towards all those who opposed it.
An atmosphere of fear was created, and the cancellation of people who expressed dissenting opinions became common practice: campaigns of public humiliation of individuals were carried out, careers were destroyed, and jobs were lost for the crime of expressing opinions. An inquisitorial attitude emerged almost everywhere: people were labeled with derogatory epithets, exposed, retractions demanded, and socially punished. This intimidating climate, so characteristic of totalitarian regimes, corroded democratic debate, restricting freedom of expression and likely favoring the emergence of extremist groups.
But the silent majority grew tired and began to react, curbing the radicalism and social and political folly of recent years. Recent signs reveal the weaknesses and decay of the current ideological current centered on the individual. While it reveals itself as an ephemeral phenomenon that has brought emptiness and disorientation to human existence, the family remains a sign of support for those who experience loneliness and abandonment. Therefore, it asserts itself as a perennial institution, above social, cultural, and political changes.

By Flat Earth debunkers, I don't mean Netlfix or Dan Olson, I mean subreddits such as r/flatearth and an assortment of youtubers that spend tremendous amounts of time belittling Flat earthers.
In "Behind the Curve" we see that a large number of Flat earthers are invested in the idea for the sense of community, and the emotional support and friendship. While the Flat Earth debunking community would have you believe they are arbiters using science and fact, they seem to often deliver their facts and science in a demeaning manner, and often in an emotionally charged way.
For many of these people, I think they get off on a perceived superiority. Because they know the earth is a globe, they perceive they have an immediate intellectual superiority over flat earthers, for free. We can see this through the way many debunkers will address flerfers as almost subhuman. They are the adult version of a year 12 bully picking on a year 9 kid. It's not debunking, it's closer to emotional and verbal abuse.

So I'm a little bit skeptical that a fundamentalist-religion driven state like Iran has many all-girls schools in it, and even then we managed to hit it, right in front of everyone?
